Customers say: Quick response

"Mike came out and looked over what I wished to have done and gave me a fair quote. We scheduled the work and he brought Dave out who performed the work (wood trim repair on my back porch and the full replacement of an outside door to my garage. The work was performed in one day and to my satisfaction before he left."

"I compared several custom glass providers for new shower glass with a door. Goodman provided by far the best interaction and a slightly better price. Bennet was responsive and met our pressing schedule. I am extremely happy with Goodman Glass."

"Freeman Repairs did an incredible job! They completed the work in a timely and professional manner. I feel they went above and beyond, making multiple trips to my property to make sure things dried correctly and that the project had the right finished look. Would absolutely rehire."

"I was doing an online search for someone who could repair my fence gate which was destroyed by a neighbor's tree. I literally had just closed the computer window when I received a call from Rubi's company. He came the next day - on time - to give me an estimate on the gate repair. I was impressed with him from the start. His estimate was fair, he was professional and friendly; and from our conversation, I knew he was enthusiastic about helping people. I hired him immediately, and he was here the next day to take care of business. He worked in the pouring rain and got the job done including the clean up. I plan to hire him to do other work for me in the future, and have NO hesitation is recommending him!!!"

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Most windows last for 15 to 30 years, depending on the frame material and the glass quality, but most will require repairs during that time. Windows gradually lose efficiency, so it’s usually best to have a window repair technician inspect and service your windows every five to 10 years. You should also repair your windows if you experience the following:

  • Leaks

  • Drafts

  • Difficulty opening or closing

  • Sudden increases in heating and cooling bills

  • Outdoor noise becomes more audible

  • Signs of physical damage

The average cost to repair a window is about $400, with prices typically ranging from $175 to $1,500. The final cost is influenced by several factors, including:

  • Number of Panes: Single-pane repairs average around $200, double-pane repairs range from $200 to $400, and triple-pane repairs can cost $600 to $1,100.

  • Type of Repair: Minor fixes for a track, seal, or sash are more affordable than repairs for broken glass or window frames, which are typically the most expensive.

  • Window Details: The size, type, and material of the window affect the price.

  • Accessibility: Windows on upper floors or in hard-to-reach locations may increase labor costs.

  • Other Factors: The extent of the damage, local labor rates, and the need for emergency service will also impact the total cost.

For comparison, a full window replacement can range from $175 to $1,800 or more for high-end materials or large windows like bay or bow windows.

The most affordable way to screen in a porch is to add a base track system to an existing wooden frame. The whole process should cost around $2,000 for supplies, depending on the size of your porch. It’s much pricier to build a screened-in porch or sunroom from scratch—and you’ll probably need to hire a contractor for a project like that.

Professionals ensure repairs not only fix current problems but also prevent future issues, improving efficiency and aesthetics.

Solar screens use a thick mesh of polyester to block out the UV waves and solar heat. While they are more expensive at about $7.50 per square foot, they can protect your porch or hardwood floors from sun damage and keep the room or porch on the other side of the patio cool.
