"Alejandro was fabulous! If you need a painter for any interior work, I highly recommend this young man. He was on time. He did a beautiful job and he cleaned up everything when he left. There was absolutely no mess whatsoever. He painted multiple rooms in my home and I am extremely satisfied. He worked very hard to get everything done the way that I wanted it. Very reasonably priced as well. Definitely hire him!"

"Shawn was a dream to work with. He easily took the jobs in hand (repairing a hole in the wall) and took on other jobs I threw at him: repainting front & back porches, a piece of popcorn ceiling 16 feet up, as well as touching up little imperfections all over. He did an excellent job & is so personable and interesting I'll surely hire him again."

Small jobs welcome

"As advertised on Taylor Locklear Drywall’s website, they get five stars in every category! We needed a small patch repair in our ceiling and Taylor himself provided the repair. He showed up on time, [pun intended] made a seamless repair, left the workspace clean and ready for my wife to paint. The price as reasonable, too."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Both plaster and drywall are durable wall finishes, but they differ significantly in installation, cost, performance, and aesthetics.

Installation & Cost: Drywall installation is faster and more affordable, typically costing $1.50 to $3 per square foot. It uses premade sheets, making it a more accessible DIY project. Plastering is a labor-intensive craft that requires specialized skills, pushing costs to $2 to $10 per square foot. It involves applying a wet paste over a lath framework.

Durability & Performance: Plaster is generally more durable, longer-lasting, and provides superior soundproofing. It is also a better insulator, which can help reduce energy costs. Drywall is easier to remove for future renovations.

Aesthetics: Drywall provides a smooth, uniform surface ready for paint or texture. Plaster offers a high-end, naturally textured look that can hide imperfections and is often preferred for achieving a classic or historic aesthetic.

Which is better? The choice depends on your priorities. Drywall is ideal for those prioritizing a lower upfront cost, faster installation, and DIY potential. Plaster is the better option for a higher-end project where durability, soundproofing, and a unique, premium finish are more important than the initial cost.

Costs range from $200 to $800, depending on the area size and damage severity.

Depending on how much adhesive was used as well as the strength of the adhesive, you may have some drywall damage when removing a mirror. You can typically repair most drywall damage if it’s small by sanding the damaged area, applying spackle to smooth the damaged section so it’s flush with the rest of the wall, and repainting the area.

Generally, your homeowner’s insurance might only cover ceiling collapses caused by problems under the coverage, such as a busted pipe. But if the ceiling collapse resulted from owner negligence, maintenance issues, or other reasons excluded by your policy, you could be on your own. Some policies might cover damages caused by the collapse but not the repair itself. Check with your policy carrier for the most accurate information regarding ceiling collapse coverage.

It may take a bit of patience and trial and error to match your particular drywall texture type when making repairs. For orange peel or knockdown finishes, use a spray texture product or a thinned joint compound applied with a roller or sponge. Practice on scrap drywall or cardboard first. Once dry, lightly sand and prime before painting.
