"Our tub/shower conversion to walk in shower went great and we are pleased with the outcome. Our installer, Walter and Oscar, were professional, able to answer any questions and very easy to work with."

"Oscar and his team were very professional. The guys he had assigned to my job worked really hard to get the old concrete shower walls out of the shower area and replace with a nice modern shower. The job was a complete bathroom remodel and was completed within my budget. Really good job!"

"Another company started a custom shower install, but everything went wrong from shoddy work to delays in receiving orders to workers not arriving on time (or not at all). After I hired Bradley Construction, I realized I should have hired them in the first place. The project manager stayed on top of the project and made sure everything was completed properly and on schedule. They also installed new countertops in the bathroom. They did an excellent job. I could not have been more pleased!"

"I will show photos when it’s done, but the professionalism, knowledge, fun and all around great experience with these guys is not to be beat! SO easy to talk to and they listen, then they show you amazing products and help you choose, very patient, didn’t mind me changing my mind. Overall, I feel like we made new friends! "At first I gave them a bad review because of the person they sent to do the work. After talking to the owner and his team I understood a little more of what went into this project. It was not a simple project to begin with and I was a little frustrated that it was taking so long. After sending other people to finish the project my bathroom is coming along nicely. They are even fixing the mistakes the first person made. Over all the team is very nice and easy to work with. Being a recently widowed woman Tim met me at Floor & Decor to help me with the items I needed to buy. He let me pick what I wanted but was there for guidance. He personally brought over a niche to put in my shower and sent picture of shower faucets I might like."

Tub Shower Conversion questions, answered by experts

Most of the time, Medicare will not pay for a roll-in shower because it isn’t considered medically necessary. However, a doctor’s recommendation and other medical evidence may qualify you for reimbursement. If you need a roll-in shower for medical reasons, you will likely need to pay up front for installation and then apply for reimbursement.

Yes, you can replace just the shower pan and leave the shower base as-is. However, you may need to replace both if the pan is leaking and causing damage to the base, like cracks. In this case, getting a new pan won’t fix your problems because you’ll eventually notice water damage in your home.

The answer is mixed when it comes to whether you can expect your home warranty to cover a shower pan leak. While a home warranty is designed to cover costs for the repair or replacement of appliances and major home systems, most plans don't cover water damage. However, plumbing may be covered. When looking at home warranty versus home insurance, it's helpful to know that most homeowners insurance policies do cover sudden and accidental water damage originating from inside the house.

The amount of space needed depends on the size of the shower. For the standard 32-by-32-inch walk-in shower, you’ll need about 50 square inches. The International Residential Code requires a minimum of 24 inches of space in front of a walk-in shower’s entrance. That said, the National Kitchen & Bath Association recommends 30 inches of clearance, which is a bit more comfortable for most people.

Ideally, you’ll have enough room to open your doors and cabinets without interfering with your shower. This may not be possible in a smaller bathroom.

Curbless walk-in showers are considered the best shower option for older adults because they are easier to step into and have room for a bench inside. Users often have room to roll a walker or wheelchair into the stall. Be sure to install a handheld showerhead so the user can rinse off easily without needing to move their body to the shower stream.
