"Great troubleshooting. Joseph found the real issue was with my light switch so the light fixture did not need replacing. He also replaced the bathroom exhaust fan, which included a trip to Lowes and going into the attic. Joseph is very efficient and professional and repaired everything I needed. Prices are very reasonable. I will call him again for future electrical needs."

"RAVE: Greg Avila with Avila Electric is an amazing electrician!! He just installed a Generac 22kw Generator to our home. Greg took care of scheduling the delivery of the generator to our house, obtaining required permit, scheduling with Duke Energy, and he does all the installation and wiring himself. Here is why the rave: - excellent communication - provides lots of options - reliable - trustworthy - very professional - super friendly and personable - attention to detail - honest and fair pricing - great listener, and provides viable solutions - answered all my questions and concerns Anyone else looking to have a permanent generator, portable generator connection, or any home electrical needs, I highly recommend Avila Electric!! For those wanting to know the process of having a permanent generator installed, please see below: 1. Propane (most difficult part) a. If you do not have propane, you will need to contact a propane company to rent propane tank(s) i. I chose Suburban Propane b. They will need to come out and see where the tank(s) will be placed, propane gas lines to be ran to the generator location c. You will need to contact 811 to mark, and survey the area (no cost) d. Schedule the installation of the propane tank(s). Currently, a lot of propane service companies are Two Weeks or more out for scheduling an appointment 2. Please contact Greg at Avila Electric for installation of our generator."

"Craig greeted me with a smile and a handshake. I appreciated his phone call stating the time he would arrive. He removed leaves from inside my outside units, checked freon pressure, and replaced two capacitors. He checked the blower fans on both units for dust buildup and both thermostats. Filters were good. Craig inspected my water heater, but decided to let the plumber check it further. We discussed a service agreement and I signed it. Work was top of the line... Very professional, and thorough."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

The direction you want your ceiling fan to move in depends on the season you’re in. During summer, you want it to move counterclockwise to produce a cooling downdraft. During winter, you want it to move clockwise to circulate warm air throughout the room.

Many ceiling fan-rated electrical boxes tend to be made of metal. However, some electrical boxes may also be made of heavy-duty plastic that is reinforced with metal support structures. It may also have an attachment that connects directly to a ceiling joist. If you are ever ensure, consult with a licensed professional to get their insight on best practices and whether the installation is a safe one.

Ceiling fans are very often worth the investment because they improve comfort in your living space and help reduce utility bills. In the late spring and early fall—and even in the summer in some areas—homeowners with ceiling fans can often get away with open windows and fans, which can cut down on cooling bills and also reduce wear and tear on the HVAC system. Over time, ceiling fans can pay for themselves by saving you money on electric bills and air conditioner repair and maintenance.

Stainless steel or aluminum fans are long-lasting and have less air resistance. They are best for outdoor use as their durability helps them withstand unpleasant weather conditions. Their heavy weight requires a stronger motor, which leads to more noise than other blade materials.

Wooden fan blades are a classic, durable option. They are much quieter than metal fans and feature a wide range of styles and finishes to choose from. However, they can be damaged by moisture if not covered with plastic.

Plastic fan blades are lightweight, easy to clean, and versatile. There are various shapes and styles to choose from as plastic is easily molded and dyed. They will also deteriorate slower than other materials as they aren’t as susceptible to humidity and moisture.

To determine if your ceiling box can support a fan, you must check if it is specifically fan-rated. Manufacturers are required to indicate this on the box itself. You may need to remove the existing light fixture to look inside the ceiling box for an inscription stating it is rated for fan use. If you do not see this confirmation, the box is likely not strong enough and must be replaced with a fan-rated junction box. For a proper and safe installation, you should also use a fan brace to secure the new box between the ceiling joists, which provides the necessary support for the fan's weight and motion.
