"I felt like Thomas Potts did a great job grinding the stumps of two trees that had recently been cut down. He was friendly, professional, and timely. Mr. Potts communicated well prior to arriving so we knew when precisely when he would arrive, etc. The job was done efficiently and Mr. Potts chhecked on several occasions to make sure we were happy with the results along the way. The price was also very reasonable for the work done. I wouls defintely hire him again if needed."

"I highly recommend Chauga Valley Grading for any grading or site work needs. They did an outstanding grade job on my building site and the results were better than I expected. The work was done quickly, professionally, and with great attention to detail. They showed up on time, communicated well throughout the process, and left the site looking clean and ready for the next step. "We couldnâ  t be happier with Ortiz Tree Service! Their estimating process was fast, easy, and fair priced and they scheduled the needed services quickly. The seven-person crew worked together with great coordination and made their work look fun. Jose, the climber, was highly skilled and a joy to watch as he climbed and cut tall trees like he was a high wire artist! Finally, when they completed their work, they cleaned our yard beautifully and left no obvious signs they had been thereâ ¦.other than their excellent work. I highly recommend Ortiz Tree Service!!"

"They came while I was at work, so I havenâ t met anyone, but Dustin texted and sent pictures. They cleaned all of the leaves and other tree debris from our yard and gutters, trimmed back some shrubs and removed one that has outgrown its spot. My wife and I were quite pleased. Weâ ve just moved into this new home, and weâ ve got many chores yet to do. Sharp Edge really helped us out. They even did a bit more than we asked for. Iâ ll definitely call them again. I believe they earned their money, and I believe the cost was fair."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The recovery time for pruning depends on how much you prune, the species of tree, and how well you care for it afterward. All trees grow new wood and often sprout additional branches after pruning. Ideally, trees should recover from normal pruning after one or two years. Heavy pruning or slow-growing trees may take several years to fully recover.

Licensing requirements for arborists, also known as tree surgeons, vary by state and municipality. Many areas require a license, which often involves specialized education and experience. Even if not mandated, it's wise to hire a licensed professional as they tend to have more experience. Beyond licensing, look for certifications from organizations like the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) or the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), as this indicates a higher level of expertise. Certified arborists must typically pass a comprehensive exam. Always confirm that the arborist has a business license and is fully insured to protect yourself from liability. Seeking positive recommendations from local homeowners is also a good step in finding a qualified professional.

In most ways, palm trees are incredibly low-maintenance. They don’t need a ton of water—which is why they’re so beloved in desert regions—and they basically prune themselves. But they do need an ample supply of sunlight and to be in soil that will allow for proper drainage so that their roots don’t become waterlogged and at risk of developing illnesses.

If the plant begins to wilt, develop spots, or change color, these could all be signs that your palm tree has a disease. But a few basic treatments, like pruning and applying fungicide, will usually be more than enough to return it to perfect health.

The best time to transplant a tree is when it is dormant. For many trees, this means either in the fall after the leaves have dropped (around October or November) or in early spring before new growth begins (around March). The ideal timing can depend on the type of tree. Deciduous trees do well when moved in early spring or fall, while evergreens are best transplanted in early spring or late summer. For example, pine trees are best moved in early fall, but maples prefer late fall. Avoid transplanting in winter, as the frozen or hard, cold soil poses a significant risk to the roots and prevents the tree from acclimating properly.

It takes anywhere from three to seven years for a stump to decompose on its own. This timeframe can depend on the kind of tree and your climate. The lower to the ground the stump is, the faster it rots. If you kill a tree stump with salt, boiling water, herbicide, light deprivation, or burning, the tree stump decomposes faster.
