"My kitchen pipes were freezing on cold nights. I was always cold in the winter months and hot in the summer despite adjusting my thermostat and my system constantly running. Also, my electric bills were much too high for a small house. I called Carolina Energy, and they found the problem immediately. Despite state inspections, my three year old house had no insulation in certain parts of the attic, especially above my kitchen where my pipes were. They were very professional and knowledgeable, always punctual, did an excellent job and cleaned up afterwards. I was impressed with them from the beginning and would recommend them to anyone needing insulation work."

"Came right away to install proper chimney cap to prevent leaks when it rained. Then scheduled the new roof about a week later. The crew of 6 came on time at 0730 and ripped off the old roof and replaced it. They added two vents to properly vent attic. Then they cleaned up all around the house, porches and decks. They were hard workers, did a professional job at a competitive price and were fastidious about cleaning up. Highly satisfactory results.

"The service was excellent! They also painted and repaired the wall. They were very diligent and took pride in their work, and they also cleaned up after themselves. I would highly recommend them!"

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Repairing or replacing a skylight generally takes between a few hours to a full day. Simple repairs might take 2 to 4 hours, depending on the complexity of the problem. The total time can vary based on factors like weather conditions, the accessibility of the skylight, and the extent of the work required, such as replacing the entire unit versus performing minor repairs.

Yes, solar tubes work during the winter as long as it’s light outside and they aren’t covered by snow. Sun tunnels are made to work year-round to bring in natural light, and some people find them even more beneficial during the winter. With less daylight outside, it can be even more important to bring brightness into homes to reduce electricity costs.

Fixed skylights are by far the most popular type. Because skylights can be pretty high up on your ceiling, fixed (rather than operable) skylights remove some maintenance from the equation. Plus, you don’t have to constantly worry if you shut your skylight fully the last time you opened it or if you’re going to find a leak later on during a rainy day.

There are four main types of lighting used in homes: ambient, task, accent, and decorative. Within these categories, there are a number of fixtures to choose from including ceiling-mounted lights, floor lamps, under-cabinet lights, track lighting, and more.

Choosing the fixture that’s right for you depends on your home design and the area you’re looking to illuminate.

Yes, if you have ventilated skylights, you can install insect screens on them. Insect screens for skylights cost $10 to $50 each, depending on their size and quality. Most pros highly recommend insect screens for ventilated skylights because they keep pests outside of your home while allowing fresh air inside.
