Hi! I’m Eric, a master electrician in the trade since fresh out of high school ( 2003 ). I immediately jumped green into commercial electrical work 40 hours a week in 2003. As my knowledge grew, I’d start doing side jobs on the weekends ( ceiling fans, can lights, light fixture installs ) When I got my journeyman card in 2012, I started doing more advanced residential electrical on the side. ( Panel upgrades, troubleshooting, generator installs, boat lifts on docks, etc ) \nIn 2023, I realized I was losing money by working 40 hours a week for an electrical contractor when I had clients weeks and months out due to delayed availability. So I took my Masters Test, picked up General Liability Insurance, got bonded, and began my own small electric business. Here I am today. I can handle any massive, to small job dealing with anything electrical, and both a residential and commercial setting.

"I would like to recommend Bulldog Exteriors to everyone. Aaron Harris and his crew pressure washed our entire home, replaced wood rot and wrapped the eaves with aluminum and vinyl. In addition they calked and painted all the doors and windows in our home. After that was a complete replacement of the gutters with larger and screen protected gutters. All paint, vinyl, aluminum, and gutters are color matched to perfection with the color of our choice. All of this worked was priced reasonably for all of the work involved. The only delay was a weather day and a delay in getting the materials in from suppliers. Aaron is a Citadel Graduate and headquartered in Ridgeville. A true local company we should support. Nails are a popular choice for hanging string lights, but they are not the only option. Use outdoor hooks, zip ties, or even awning hangers to string up lights outdoors. For indoor lights, use simple tacks, zip ties, damage-free adhesive hooks, or drawing pins. When all else fails, just wrap the lights around some furniture or outdoor fixtures.

Yes, you can try removing and replacing each individual light bulb one at a time until you find the problem bulb—just be prepared for it to take a while. The bulb tester is worth the investment if you don’t have a lot of extra time to spare or need to test several strands of lights.

To hang Christmas lights on a ceiling without using nails or traditional hooks, you have several damage-free options. Adhesive hooks and clips are a popular choice. For smaller projects, you can use pushpins, tacks, or adhesive putty. Specially designed transparent tape that can hold weight without damaging paint is also effective. For a more creative approach, consider stringing the lights over a curtain rod near the ceiling. If you have a drop ceiling, look for clips and hooks designed to attach to the metal framing. Note that staples can also be used, but may leave small holes.

Aside from a professional light installation company, there are a few other pros who may be able to help you hang Christmas lights. Along with specialty holiday decorators, a handyperson near you can also hang Christmas lights (and can fix that pesky drippy sink while they’re at it). Either way, not all of these pros will offer the service, so be sure to call ahead and get multiple quotes before you hire.

Using a staple gun to hang Christmas lights on your roof or shingles is not recommended. Puncturing your roof with staples can cause damage, leading to cracks, leaks, and exposure to the elements. Staples are also less reliable than other methods like roof clips. For a safer alternative that won't damage your roof, use shingle tabs.
