"This the second time that we have used Dimitri and his crew. This project was difficult in that 12 in. diameter branches had to be removed from a tall, mature oak tree which were hanging over a landscaped bank, w/o the use of mechanical equipment because of the tree being landlocked. The work had to be done with ladder, ropes and chainsaws. The crew demonstrated exceptional expertise in cutting the branches in such a manner that they were successful in protecting existing shrubs and trees from any damage. They stacked the cordwood and cleared smaller branches from the area. Definitely would call them again!"

Small jobs welcome

"I had an area installed with river rock and grading to mitigate a drainage issue in my upper back yard. From start to finish the experience more than exceeded my expectations. Mick Pitts, the owner, is fabulous. The work was performed on time, exactly as described; the yard was cleaned up perfectly and the workers were polite and friendly. It is rare these days to experience superb customer service and quality workmanship but GVL Landscaping is a jewel and they deliver on both counts. I will definitely use them again"

"Chris and his crew were exceptional, they were polite, professional, and the hardest working young men I have seen in awhile. They were here when they said they would be, got right to work and didn't stop until the job was done. They took down an 80 ft pecan tree that was circled by azalea bushes and did not break a branch off any of them. I can not say enough about them, I will hire them again for more tree removal I will be needing. Thank you guys for a job well done. Chris & Nancy"

FAQs for brush chipping projects in Mauldin, SC

Topsoil costs from $12 to $55 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. For example, screened black dirt will cost about $15 per cubic yard. Loam (soil composed of sand, silt, and clay) costs about $17 per cubic yard. Standard screened topsoil costs about $20 per cubic yard. The type of topsoil you need depends on your landscaping plans.

Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.

When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.

On the inexpensive end, red and black mulch are about $35 to $40 per cubic yard, and are typically made from recycled waste wood like shredded old pallets or deck material. Cedar, cypress, and rubber mulch cost anywhere from $100 to $120 per cubic yard. A pro can help you determine the type of mulch most suitable for your landscaping needs.

Yes, you will want to confirm that the tree removal company you hire is insured before proceeding with the job. Tree removal can be dangerous work, and it's important to verify that the company carries the proper insurance to cover any onsite accidents or damage.
