"My husband and I moved into a home last fall here in Murrells Inlet. There are many windows which is great, but would have been a lot for us to clean. We contacted Window Genie. They did all of our windows inside and out as well as the screens in about two and a half hours. Alicia, Jake and Richard were the cleaners. They were terrific! They were professional, thorough, and left our home in the manner in which they found it. We were very pleased and will look to have them back again next year."

"Excellent job installing 13 windows. Storm door in back and french doors on front. Chose no-pay for a year which I intend to pay in full, especially since finance rate by third party (Green Sky), which was undisclosed is outrageous and 24% higher than same finance company was going to charge for Anderson windows."

"The company responded quickly with a quote and was able to schedule the work within just 2 days. Hampton is professional, courteous, and clearly knows his stuff when it comes to replacing window screens. Great job replacing 2 window screens on our condo. Would absolutely recommend."

"The installers were great. The salesperson made promises that he did not keep and he missed a window. When the person came to measure he also didn’t catch that I was having all my windows done except one. The windows look great. The response when I notified the co that one window was missed was very fast but added to my cost."

Windows questions, answered by experts

Shatter-resistant glass will ensure that even with a high impact, the glass of your window panes is less likely to break. If you’re looking for a more low-cost way to prevent vandalism, the most traditional answer would be to board up windows with a strong plywood sheet. Adding security cameras is also a surefire way to ward off potential vandalism.

You should board up windows when you need to protect your home either from intruders after a window breaks or from severe weather before you experience damage. To maintain home security with a broken window, get your window boarded immediately. If there’s a hurricane, tropical storm, or tornado expected in your area, board your windows a day or two beforehand to avoid emergency service fees.

Drafts, condensation between panes, difficulty operating, or visible frames or glass damage are signs of needed repairs.

Yes, you can enlarge windows in a brick house. Your masonry contractor will need to cut away exterior brick to make space for the larger window, and you may also need to consult a structural engineer to make sure the window is properly supported inside the frame of the house.

The rough opening refers to the framed space in the wall where the window will be placed. That means the full size of the space will be filled with both glass and frame once the new window is installed. For a standard window, a rough opening adds 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch to both the length and width.
