"Showed him all the problems inside the house, cracks above doors, crown molding separating from ceiling, closet door not closing .He checked out side and under the floor. Came back inside and explained what needed to be done. The price was reasonable. I set up an appointment to have the work done. Signed contract on Feb 22, 2018 with Richard Medford. The guys came on March 8, 2018 at 9AM to do the work. I was pleased with how they worked."

"Stan gave great info on the window products and patio door when he came out for our appointment. The guy who came to double check measurements was very professional as well. The installers were great. I couldn't believe how quickly they were able to remove the old windows and replace them with the new. They also repaired rot and capped trim around windows. They cleaned up and hauled away the old windows when job was completed. I had cut back our shrubs from the windows so that helped them do the job quicker as well and they did make a point of letting me know they appreciated it. They started the job at 7:30 a.m. and told me they'd be done by 3 p.m. but they were actually done by 1! They were very accommodating about the fact that we had three indoor cats who had to be moved from the last room to be installed. We love the windows. We have a Cape Cod house and went with the grids on the front windows, but no grids on the side and backyard windows or the patio door. We have already noticed that the house is cooler inside from the Summer heat due to the windows. We had a great experience with purchase and installation with Champion Windows."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Typically every 10-15 years or whenever they show signs of wear and tear.

The screen material you choose depends on your needs. Here are some differences to consider:

  • Fiberglass is the least expensive but needs replacing more often.

  • Aluminum suits almost any job and doesn’t stretch as easily as fiberglass.

  • Pet-resistant screens are more expensive than fiberglass or aluminum, but they’re also wind and weather-resistant.

  • Metal screens, like stainless steel, are the most expensive material for rescreening your porch or sunroom. However, they last for years and are golf ball-resistant.

Adding a window to a brick house costs $3,100 to $10,575. Because you’ll need to make changes to the structure of the home, the cost will include obtaining permits and hiring the best pros for this complex job. Larger windows will cost more to install, and the cost can vary based on the window frame material you choose.

A vacuum with a hose attachment or a lint roller can easily remove dust from your window screen. Pressure washing window screens is another option, but you should make sure you have the appropriate nozzle and pressure setting to avoid doing extensive damage to your window.

Many windows carry warranties from the manufacturer or installer that may cover the cost of repairs for a fixed amount of time. When installing or replacing windows, ask about any applicable warranties, what kinds of damage and repair they may cover, and what the procedure is for making a warranty claim.
