"Josh helped me troubleshoot and repair various electrical circuits in my home and removed the debris from my garbage disposal, which was causing it to seize and trip the internal circuit breaker. He is very knowledgeable in all aspects of the home and his customer service skills are superb. All in all he was a joy to be around and helped me with all of my issues. I highly recommend him for service if you are in need of a genuine “handy man”"

Small jobs welcome

"I talked to Justin about wanting a floodlight camera above my garage door. I didn't have any pre existing wiring to use a wired one so wasn't sure what my options were. He picked out a solar panel ring light since that was going to be the cheapest and easier route than running wires to an electrical source. I'm very pleased at how it turned out. He picked up the camera the day we talked and the next day he was installing it. The installation looks very professional and secure. He also helped me finish installing my ring doorbell camera as I had lost the installation screws. Justin is defiantly my go to pro for all my future smart home projects!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Old electrical systems may have more problems than newer ones. In some cases, like if your home has aluminum wiring, it may be necessary to update your electrical system. You should also update your home’s wiring if it still has knob and tube wiring, which is considered dangerous by modern building standards. If that applies to you, get in touch with an electrical professional near you to obtain a quote.

The light that your ceiling light gives off will largely depend on the type of light bulb that’s installed in it. If you’re looking to brighten a dark room, LED bulbs are the way to go. LED bulbs will emit the most light while also using less energy than standard bulbs. They can last up to 50,000 hours and will need to be replaced much less often than standard bulbs.

If the outlet is a GFCI model, this is normal since these outlets have their own breakers that shut off when they encounter a problem—just hitting the reset button should solve the issue. Otherwise, the outlet could have bad wiring, or your circuit breaker could be having issues. If the issue started out of nowhere and is not on a GFCI outelt, it’s best to contact an electrician to diagnose the issue.

Be careful not to drop your voltmeter or multimeter. Even a small fall can affect the tool’s ability to measure with accuracy. Always store your tools in their cases in a cool, dark place. Also, avoid touching the probes to each other while they’re connected to a circuit or another electrical component, and never tamper with anything inside the device.

If it’s called a USB outlet without any further designation, it likely refers to a USB-A port. These are the original USB connections and are commonly integrated within power outlets. In recent years, USB-A cables have slowly been usurped by faster and more reliable USB-C cables. USB-C connectors are small and ultra-thin with a reversible design, while USB-A connectors are slightly larger and bulkier.
