"Tim and Charles Smith came to our house and gave us an estimate.. He ask to use 20 pieces of my Sheetrock ( I paid for) on another job and that he would return it!!He never did... He is the most unprofessional person that I have ever hired... I ended up having to call the police and put up deer cameras around my house because he threatened to steal my husbands tractor.. I have pictures of the most horrible , botched Sheetrock finishing I have ever seen.. we have hired another Sheetrock finisher that says it is literally the worst finishing job that He had ever seen.. please save yourself a lot of heartache and do not hire Smith Drywall.. I also have copies of text that he sent me that are foul one at 2:45 am for no particular reason.. I have never written a negative review about any product or company but I feel like I would not be a decent human not to warn others about what a disaster trying to get decent work out of Smith Drywall. We are out 3000 dollars and are having to pay another company to literally finish our dry wall.."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

A jigsaw is commonly used to cut holes in drywall. It offers versatility and precision, making it suitable for creating circular or irregular openings. When equipped with the right blade, a jigsaw can swiftly and cleanly cut through drywall, making it a good choice for DIY projects.

You do not need to drywall over most types of garage insulation. However, doing so can increase noise reduction, make the space more attractive, and keep children and pets from touching harmful fiberglass insulation. If you’re using cellulose or some other type of blown-in insulation (fiberglass and mineral wool are common), you will need drywall to contain the insulation material.

Installing drywall will cost between $1.50 and $3 per square foot for materials, labor, and finishing, which is quite a bit lower than the average of $9 to $13 per square foot for a drop-tile ceiling. So, while drop ceilings allow more design flexibility, provide easy access to utility lines above them, and are often much easier and less expensive to repair, they do cost more upfront. You can minimize your drop ceiling cost by opting for more affordable fiberboard panels, although some homeowners don’t like the look of this material.

You can drywall an unheated garage because the material handles cold temperatures perfectly well. There are no risks or downsides to installing drywall in a garage that is not heated, and the material stands up to moisture and other elements quite well. Drywall will protect your unheated garage's electric wires and cables and add fire protection. However, for effective bonding, you should install drywall at a temperature of 55 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.

Yes, 1/2-inch thick drywall is commonly used for ceilings in residential construction. It provides adequate support and is easier to handle and install compared to thicker drywall sheets. Thicker drywall, such as 5/8-inch, is typically used for ceilings in commercial buildings or areas requiring additional fire resistance or soundproofing. However, for most standard residential applications, 1/2-inch drywall is sufficient and widely accepted.
