We're Responsible! Here at South Fork we are on a mission to set the new standards for the tree care industry in South Carolina. Tree work has come a long way from the old school "rough neck" methods and we strive to be on the cutting edge of all the modern techniques and equipment. Our goal is to give you a better experience than any other tree care company can offer. From the first initial contact to the final invoicing. We will walk by your side every step of the way. We recognize that to us it is just the next job site, but for you, the customer, it is a huge undertaking to your property and it should be treated as such. Our customers make us who we are and we appreciate every single one of you. Call or email us today and see what South Fork can do for your yard.

"This company is unethical. We requested & agreed to their quote for tree removal with stray branches, leaves, etc placed on the curb for county pickup. The company later claimed, the cost for “tree removal” didn’t include actually removing the trees - only cutting them down. And if you have a tree already down due to the storm, the company changes what the “removal” charge means. “Removing the tree” then means dragging it from the back and dumping it in the front. Though I paid an increased cost for removal off my property, the company later claimed the landfill didn’t allow contractors to use their services this soon after Hurricane Helene. Unfortunately, my boyfriend provided my payment because he believed the company had no choice due to landfill restrictions. Did we receive a partial refund or discount due to their incompletion of this job? No. The county landfill also confirmed that the company’s claim re: restrictions placed on contractors was a false statement."

Stone and Gravel questions, answered by experts

There are many things to look for when buying a brick house. Here are some of the key things you should pay close attention to.

  • Lintels: Look for cracks, holes, displacement, or corrosion

  • Mortar: Check to see if the mortar is old and crumbling, in need of repointing, or new. Also check to see if the mortar has a professional finish.

  • Walls: Check along each side of the house. If a wall is bowing outward, this indicates a severe issue such as foundation damage or that the walls are ready to fall.

  • Cracks: If there are stair step cracks in the brickwork, this indicates an unstable foundation.

A well-made brick wall can last up to 100 years if maintained properly, which includes regularly repairing the mortar every 30 to 50 years. If your brick wall is under 30 years old and is already showing signs of repair, it may be due to poor brickwork and installation. Extreme weather conditions can also accelerate a brick wall’s life span (especially the exterior of a house).

You should worry about brick wall cracks when they are wide and growing, or in a horizontal or stair-step pattern. Additionally, they may be accompanied by other signs of structural stress. In these cases, a foundation specialist should inspect your home.

Yes, brick houses are better insulated, because the bricks slow down the passage of air from the outside to the inside and vice-versa. This helps to stabilize the internal temperature of the home. When combined with proper residential insulation, brick houses are more efficient and better insulated than other types.

The material you use depends on how hard-wearing your steps need to be and what you want them to look like. The most common stone for exterior steps is bluestone. It’s hard-wearing and durable, and bluestone steps cost between $15 and $30 per linear foot. Limestone is also a popular option and is mid-range, costing $25 to $50 per linear foot. You should always consider the specific requirements of your project before ordering any materials.
