"They were able to replace the skylight in less than 2 weeks after the quote. They did a good job and make the finish on the inside look good. A few weeks later, there was a heavy rain and my new skylight is no longer leaking like my old one that was replaced."

"

Stuart and his crew did an excellent job remodeling my kitchen. They installed new cabinets, granite countertops, and a natural stone backsplash. The craftsmanship was excellent and I would definitely work with them again

"We got to know Ryan and Mark, and their high work ethic, during the construction and the painting of our screened porch. They worked as though they were doing this addition to their own homes, and took extra care to match the existing siding and style of our home. Our homeowner association had no problem with the plan Ryan developed; which is amazing when dealing with these sometimes ultra picky organizations. There was never a time that we did not feel the utmost trust in the quality of the work being done, or the people who came to our home each day. These men communicate well, and inspire confidence in their expertise. Some companies hire itinerant workers, who may not be trustworthy around the family and property, but that is not an issue with this company."

"Thomas was excellent. He arrived on the same day I called to inspect and give a quote (exactly on time) and managed to do the work two days later. It looks even better than it did before the water damage and I was impressed with Thomas's care and professionalism through all aspects of the job. I would definitely hire him again for future work."

Skylights questions, answered by experts

To maintain a skylight and ensure its performance over time, regular maintenance is required. This includes periodically cleaning the glass and frame to remove dirt, debris, and condensation. It is also crucial to inspect the seals and flashing at least once a year for any signs of wear, degradation, or leaks, paying special attention after heavy storms. Ensure that the drainage system is clear to prevent water buildup and potential leaks. Address minor issues like cracks promptly and consider occasional resealing to prevent drafts and moisture problems. While energy-efficient skylights with Low-E coatings or double glazing may require less upkeep, periodic professional servicing can help keep any skylight in optimal condition.

Yes, you can install skylights on an existing roof, and it’s a common service that many homeowners opt for, especially on older homes built when skylights weren’t as prevalent. The installation process will be a bit more involved, and the design and planning process will take longer, meaning you’ll pay more to install a skylight on an existing roof than you would in new construction. The process involves cutting a hole in the roof, moving rafters, if necessary, and installing and sealing around the skylight.

Yes, solar tubes work during the winter as long as it’s light outside and they aren’t covered by snow. Sun tunnels are made to work year-round to bring in natural light, and some people find them even more beneficial during the winter. With less daylight outside, it can be even more important to bring brightness into homes to reduce electricity costs.

Yes, solar tubes are easier to install than skylights because they’re lighter, smaller, and easier to handle. They also require less roof cutting and have a faster, simpler installation process. This means they’re a more DIY-friendly option for homeowners who want to add more natural light to their homes.

Costs depend on skylight size, roof type, and additional features like blinds or tinting.
