To discourage new nutgrass plants from forming, ensure proper landscape drainage and bring shade into areas of the lawn that are consistently damp.
For the best results, plan on mowing about mid-morning. Give the grass enough time to dry out from any leftover dew and then mow. This way, the grass has the rest of the day to recover in the sunlight. Otherwise, mow in the afternoon once the heat of the day has passed.
