"Quicker than I thought, sturdy equipment. Seven jacks, seven concrete disks, a pallet load of gravel, 3 4x4 beams. I do believe is was done right. My floors are level, that's what I wanted. No more bounce."

"VH Concrete gave me an estimate for a 14’ x14’ patio next to my screened in porch and one for a pad next to my storage shed. Two sets of stairs were also included in the quote. The quote was reasonable and Valentino explained the whole process with me. The work was performed over a two day period. The workers cleaned up the site after both days. The areas were excavated where needed and the soil compacted. Steel mesh was placed in my concrete, but other reinforcement was available. The Patio, stairs, and shed slab look really nice. I highly recommend VH Concrete for driveways, patios, or any other concrete projects. Valentino listens to you and addresses your concerns. He put slight pitches on our patio and slabs to allow for water drainage. He thoroughly understands concrete installations."

Concrete Mudjacking questions, answered by experts

The polyurethane used for polyjacking will expand and cure in 15 to 30 minutes. After that point, your slab will be safe to walk on and even drive on in the case of a sidewalk or concrete driveway. Double-check with your concrete lifting specialist to confirm a curing timeline, as products can differ.

Concrete leveling can last anywhere from five to 10 years or more, and in some cases, it can be a permanent solution. The longevity depends on the method used and whether the underlying cause of the sinking is addressed. For example, mudjacking typically lasts five to 10 years, while polyjacking can last for 20 years or more. It's best to consult a professional for an accurate timeline based on your specific situation and any factors that could cause the issue to recur.

There is no real alternative to underpinning, although mudjacking and polyjacking are other repair methods that can add support from underneath your foundation. Rather than placing supportive piers under your structure, these involve pumping a material under your slab to lift a sunken section back into its original position. Polyjacking, in particular, is sometimes a suitable solution for stabilization issues under slab foundations, but underpinning is often accepted as the best and most permanent solution.

Yes, you can mudjack cracked concrete, but the cracks will need to be repaired once the concrete has been leveled. If the concrete is severely cracked in multiple places, replacement may be a better option, but for less severe cracking, mudjacking is a good solution as long as cracks are correctly caulked and sealed.

Mudjacking is usually reserved for light-duty slabs, like patios, driveways, and sidewalks. However, it can be an effective way to lift garage slabs and concrete around the perimeter of the home, which could harm your foundation if it’s not done properly. The risk of damage is why having a professional mudjacking company carry out the work is important. This type of slab or foundation repair is relatively inexpensive, especially if you consider that a DIY job requires that you pay to rent the necessary equipment.
