"Joe from JMS Drain Services was my service technician who arrived well within the window scheduled service time. Joe came in, inspected the sink to determine how to resolve my issue, took out the tool (snake apparatus) to clear the sink, and departed my premises within 15 minutes. I was pleased he resolved my clogged sink so quickly so I could rest after a night's work. Thank you again, Joe."

"After giving us an estimate in Dec 2014 and constantly following up with us they earned our business. They installed 8 piers and 3 beams under our home and what a difference! Just walking across the floors feels so sturdy. Now that this has been completed we can begin working on our kitchen remodel. Thanks Again!

"I FOUND RH BUILDERS (RUSSELL HOLSENBACK) THROUGH ANGIE'S LIST.  THE FINAL COST WAS A BIT MORE THAN THE ESTIMATE BUT THAT'S ONLY BECAUSE WE DID NOT ORIGINALLY INCLUDE SOME JOBS SUCH AS REMOVING THE WALLPAPER, PAINTING THE WALLS, AND INSTALLING A NEW LIGHT FIXTURE.  RUSSELL AND HIS CREW  LAID DOWN COVERS OVER OUR CARPETING SO THERE WAS NO PROBLEM THERE.  ANY RESIDUE FROM TAKING THE OLD TILE UP WAS PROMPTLY VACUUMED UP.  RUSSELL DISCOVERED THAT THE TOILET WAS NOT SEATED CORRECTLY IN RELATION TO THE FLOOR AND HE CORRECTED THAT WHICH HE COULD HAVE IGNORED BUT DIDN'T.  IN ADDITION TO RE-SEATING OUR TOILET HE ALSO ELIMINATED A TRIP HAZARD AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE BATHROOM BY INSTALLING A NEW MARBLE SILL WHICH IS NOW EVEN WITH THE HALLWAY CARPETING RATHER THAN BEING 2 INCHES HIGHER.  ALL IN ALL THE WORK PERFORMED WAS DONE PROFESSIONALLY BY RUSSELL AND HIS CREW.  AT SOME POINT WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A SIMILAR MAKE OVER OF OUR MAIN BATHROOM AND WE WOULD CERTAINLY ASK RUSSELL TO DO THE JOB."

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

Porcelain and enamel sinks have very similar appearances, but they aren’t the same. Porcelain is a ceramic made from natural clay, while enamel is a strong powder that’s glazed over a metal sink. Use a magnet to determine whether you have an enamel or porcelain sink. If a strong magnet sticks to the sink, it’s likely enamel. If it doesn’t, you probably have a porcelain sink. You can also use the model number on the sink (often found on the underside of the bowl) or information from the manufacturer to determine the material.

For safety when installing a vanity, attaching the vanity to the wall is ideal to prevent it from moving. Typically, sinks must be 4 inches away from bathtubs. Also, most states require that you have 21 inches in front of a sink, but the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) recommends 30 inches for more comfort.

Yes, you can install an undermount sink with laminate. Installing an undermount sink with laminate countertops requires a superior adhesive to keep moisture away from the particleboard within the countertop. An undermount sink offers better hygiene since there’s no sink rim promoting bacteria growth, offers a streamlined appearance, and makes wiping away messes a breeze.

You’ll only need to replace your sink’s pipes when you start to notice signs of wear like corrosion or leaking. Most pipes last somewhere between 20 and 100 years, depending on the material. Copper and cast iron can last up to 100 years. Galvanized steel and brass generally have a 50-year lifespan. PVC pipes last 25 to 40 years.

Deteriorated seals, O-rings, or gaskets are common culprits behind a leaky sink after you’ve turned off the water—especially if your sink is older than 15 years. Inspect each of these mechanisms in your sink for signs of corrosion or looseness, then replace the worn-out part to fix it. Older sinks may be worth replacing if several of the parts are worn-out.
