"Will is a good guy, who means well, and he tries hard to please, but he is a bit careless, and does not have a lot of experience with other than routine tasks.  And he refused to accept responsibility for a major mistake.
I hired Will to paint the ceiling in my living room, hall, and 3 bedrooms.  There was a good deal of water damage in some of the rooms, and a few dents in the ceilling.  He did not quite capture the technique to match the texture of the ceiling, but with some prodding and my suggestions, he kept redoing it until he got it right, generally
Apparently he never quite got the technique, because we went thru the same drill in each of the rooms.  Most came out ok after a few corrections, which he performed only when prodded. 
There was a bit of an issue of neatness.  He managed to get a light spatter of paint on a few pieces of furniture that were uncovered, and on the floor (I did manage to get it off relatively easily, but it should have been better protected).  He threw a used drop cloth over my bed when painting the ceiing, and I found the bed covered with a "dandruff" of dried paint chips.  He had painted the whole living room and hall before i noticed that he had got paint on all the walls.  He said "Oh, I thought you were going to paint the walls"... Well, I did paint them, but I had not been planning on it.
When he went to do the bedrooms, I told him that I was not planning on painting them, so could he please tape the walls before painting. Unfortunately, one of the rooms was wallpapered, so it really did need masking.  It took nearly 2 weeks to finish that room (he was sick, then I was away...) and when he got done, and pulled the tape off, the top of the wallpaper came off with it.  Not just in one spot, but all the way around the room, a colossal mess.  When I asked his what he was going to do to do to fix it, his response was "Me, fix it??? it was your idea to use tape!!"  Of course, he is no longer working on this job...  As he was packing his stuff out, he had the nerve to claim that I fired him just because I did not want to pay him.
Actually, after repeated efforts, the work that Will did came out fine (except for things like destroying my wallpaper).  Some rather severe water damage and dents were successfully covered up.  I really have become quite fond of Will, and hope he finds his niche.  But he does need to use more care, and to take responsibility for his mistakes.

"We could not have been happier personally and professionally to have found Ed Beauregard through Angie's List. Ed began working on our 14'x27 living room the day he promised. He removed the grasscloth we had put up decades ago as well as take down the curtains on our six windows, Next he spackled and filled cracks and holes revealed by the removed wallpaper. He painted the ceiling, walls and woodwork. At the end of each day, he thoroughly cleaned the area. He finished the job when promised. The room looks wonderful. Ed even helped rehang our paintings. "I've reviewed Roland before for a much smaller job. This project took several weeks (2-4 days per week depending on our schedules). Roland was quick to respond to my call and was on time each day for work. At the end of each day, he cleaned up and left the kitchen in good shape. He's very upfront about not being a designer. LOL. But he did encourage me to save the old cabinets which were solid wood and in good condition. I happen to like the vintage look, but with modern updates, so this was an easy choice for me. He sanded the cabinets and painted them white, then refinished the original hardware which had so much detail on it. And they fit perfectly with the stainless steel appliances! Roland also scraped off some awful 80's wallpaper border and vinyl wallcovering before painting. He moved the dishwasher closer to the stove and created additional space to put in a nice deep pull out drawer perfect for my large baking sheets. Because I don't have very many cabinets, I purchased a free standing pantry and Roland assembled it. He also built up one of the shelves to hold the microwave (we don't have much counter space, so every little bit counts!).  He installed a few floating shelves and changed out the 2 ceiling lights to simple glass and chrome ones. What else? Oh, he switched out the door knob/deadbolt for a much better brand. He installed a glass mosiac backsplash and vinyl peel and stick flooring (Allure - at Home Depot). He told me about this flooring - said he had heard good things about it. It looks like wood (well, sort of!), goes down in a flash and has a 25 yr warranty. Good for a modest redo and it looks great! The only part of the kitchen he didn't do was the countertop - I had that professionally installed by Superior (see my review for them). Overall I am very pleased with Roland's work and will have him back to do more projects as time and budget allow."
