A little about\nSkyway Exteriors\nI have been heavily involved in the construction trades since I was sixteen years old. During that time I have installed thousands of replacement roofing projects. \n \nI owe much of my success to all of the quality tradesmen, coaches, teachers and family members that have helped me over the years. I work hand in hand with my crews.\n \nWhen it comes to protecting your home from Southeastern Massachusetts, you can trust we have the expertise. Our strategically sized operation enables us to give you the personal relationship you deserve and the quality workmanship that you require.\n \nSkyway Exteriors, specializes in residential roofing. From our initial visit we will always give you an honest opinion at what condition your roof is in. We can identify whether you are a candidate for replacement roofing or a roofing repair service. We will always recommend a solution that fits your needs and budget.\n \nIn our experience we typically see roofs failing because of inferior products, poor workmanship and ventilation issues. Most residential roofs are replaced, or at least repaired, every ten years. By carefully choosing your residential roofing material, as well as choosing a professional roofing contractor, you can help reduce the cost of replacement or push it far into the future.

"The overall project appeared to have proceeded well. They are the roofing experts, not me. So, I did not get in their way. I let them do what they had to do. At the end of project I had to bring to their attention that: ^the driveway side of my house, where the debris trailer was placed, had to be cleaned because there were black tar marks on it, * they also had to vacuum out the crawlspace and hallway where the roof access hatch is. * they also needed to remove debris from my front lawn, and sweep up the gravel and dust from my driveway and back yard, all which came from the rooftop at they were removing the old roof. I was at this time i told Ron I was withholding $360. from the final payment, because his carpenter had done a very poor job replacing the front corner roof soffit."

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Pros of installing a skylight include the fact that you will get much more natural light in your home, skylights can make your room look bigger than it actually is, and your home may increase in value. Cons include difficult upkeep (you may have to get on a ladder to clean and maintain them), higher installation costs, and, potentially, too much heat gain from all the extra sunlight.

Common skylight issues include leaks, condensation between glass panes, damaged seals, and cracks in the glazing. Regular exposure to weather elements can lead to these problems, requiring timely attention to preserve the integrity of the skylight and the surrounding roof structure.

Skylights increase natural light, improve ventilation, and enhance aesthetic appeal in rooms.

Professionals repair or seal a skylight by inspecting for damages, resealing any gaps with appropriate weatherproofing materials, replacing cracked glass or seals, and ensuring the frame is tightly fitted to prevent future leaks and ensure proper drainage.

Yes, you can cover up a skylight if you no longer wish to have it in your space. There are a few options for covering up a skylight. One option is to install a skylight cover or shade that can be easily opened or closed as needed, allowing you to control the amount of light entering the room. Another option is to cover the skylight with a solid material, such as plywood or drywall, effectively sealing it off. However, when covering a skylight, it's essential to ensure proper insulation and waterproofing to prevent any issues in the future.
