"It went great. When originally sourcing my estimates, OK Fence was the most thorough and we discussed small details that made a big difference. They also came in at the best price. I would highly recommend them."

"Mark and his associate arrived only three days after first contact, when all other estimates couldn't start for at least a month. They completed the work in just a few hours, doing a beautiful job despite the usual unforeseen difficulties that always seem to arise and at a very reasonable price. I couldn't ask for any better treatment from a contractor and wouldn't hesitate to contact them for future projects or to recommend them to others."

"A. Belmonte and Son recently installed a white vinyl fence in my backyard. Mr. Belmonte and his crew did a great job installing my fence and I couldn't be happier. They were professional and their work is high quality. My backyard is on a slope and they were able to meticulously install the fence tight to the ground while keeping ascetically clean lines along the top. I will definitely be using them again in the future and would highly recommend!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

You can use pressure-treated wood for a horizontal fence, but you’ll need to purchase a thicker and higher-quality variety to ensure it doesn’t sag or warp after you install it. Use #2 pine grade lumber and boards and thicker dimensional lumber, such as a two-by-six. You’ll also need to use stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized fasteners, as the chemicals in the treated lumber will cause regular galvanized fasteners to rust.

Hedges are a better financial investment for a home than fences in several ways. First, hedges are less expensive to install than fences. Fence installation costs $1,775 to $4,600, depending on the type and size. You can also choose to plant smaller and less expensive hedges, knowing that it will take longer for them to mature. Next, mature hedges add resale value to the home, meaning the cost savings get even better when it's time to sell.

You can sometimes install a fence over a gas line. Fence installation typically requires a two-foot depth for posts, so if the lines are shallower than two feet, you cannot put a fence post over the line. You’ll need to call 811 to get the gas lines located and marked before you start the project.

Split rail fencing is a type of post and rail fencing. Other post and rail fences include corral board and post and dowel. Post and rail fencing is the term used for any type of fence with vertical posts, horizontal rails, and nothing else (specifically excluding pickets). So, technically, a split rail fence is a post and rail fence.

The bottom strand should sit between 12 to 15 inches from the ground. If you have a problem with small critters, you can aim for 8 inches. Three-strand fences should be 16 to 19 inches apart, four-strand fences should be 10 to 12 inches apart, and five-strand fences should be 8 and 10 inches apart.
