"Derek provided an estimate for wallpaper removal and painting a powder room, and for painting two additional bathrooms. He visited our home on 4/23/2016 to provide an estimate, and on 4/25/2016 the job was completed. Three painters were scheduled to arrive between 7:30-8:00am. They were in front of our home by 7:20am. They were all very professional, meticulous in their work, and also did a very good job cleaning up the area they painted. They definitely represented their company well. I would highly recommend this company to my family and friends, and will hire them again for additional paint jobs in my home. Thank you for providing excellent service!!

"We hired LHI twice to remove wallpaper, different painters came each time. The first painters were extremely fast and efficient. The second painters had a lot of difficulty removing the wallpaper because there were multiple laters of wallpaper. Both times the painters were very punctual, clean and professional."

"Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Every aspect of the job was completed with the utmost care and professionalism. In addition to being a true professional, Carl is a pleasure to work with - he even helped us move some heavy items between rooms as part of our remodel. I would recommend Luxe Walls without any reservation or hesitation."

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

In most cases, it is not recommended to wallpaper over existing wallpaper, as the success depends on the type of paper already on the wall. While you might be able to cover non-coated wallpaper, you should never apply new wallpaper over a vinyl-coated one, which is more common. Doing so can lead to poor adhesion, resulting in bubbles, imperfections, and peeling. It can also trap moisture, potentially causing hazardous mold growth between the layers.

Even if the existing wallpaper is suitable, experts recommend applying only one new layer. Adding multiple layers (more than two total) can cause significant adhesion problems, leading to warping and bubbling. For the best results, the recommended approach is to remove the old wallpaper and all paste residue before hanging the new paper. If you are unsure about your wallpaper type, consider consulting a professional.

You’ll need to wash the walls to remove wallpaper adhesive residue after removal as part of the prep process for painting or rehanging wallpaper. Old adhesive can cause texture issues and prevent paint or wallpaper from adhering properly to the wall’s surface.

Stubborn adhesives, multiple layers, and drywall damage can complicate removal.

It can take a professional anywhere between several hours and a full day to remove wallpaper in one room. How long wallpaper removal takes depends on the type of adhesive, the wallpaper’s age, the condition of the walls, and more.

Rubbing alcohol may help dissolve stubborn wallpaper adhesive that remains after removal, but be sure to apply it carefully to prevent damaging your walls. Apply a small amount using a cotton swab or pad, then gently scrape or wipe the adhesive away.
