Our back yard was a swampy mess with water come down the hill and water from the sump. They came up with a drainage system that corrected the issue. They were fair on their price. We had received other quotes which did not include what they did. They even did more than we expected. They also did a good job with the cleanup. For the lawn, they do a much more thorough job than our previous lawn cutter who left a mess and caused a damp in our stream. I would definitely recommend Willy Lawn Service. "

Removing tree stumps is a dangerous and complex job that requires a high level of expertise. Many landscapers specialize in general lawn care and maintenance. Your neighbor is not in a good position to know if your trees are truly dead or pose any kind of danger. But if a tree is visibly dead and near the property line, you should remove it to be safe. If a dead tree falls on a neighbor’s property, they may have grounds to sue for negligence. If any branches on trees have died, it’s a good idea to cut them back for similar reasons.

We recommend removing the stump, and grinding is a popular way to do it. You can also dig out small stumps or stumps that have fully decayed instead of grinding them. However, don’t try using acids or fire for killing a tree stump, which is a fire hazard and illegal in many areas.

Leaving the stump alone invites eventual problems, including attracting termites, mold, and fungi.

Lilac roots are typically not destructive, but they can be a nuisance. Lilac roots can extend 15 feet in all directions of your garden. Therefore, the roots can reach water and sewer lines in search of moisture and nutrients if you’ve planted them too close. Yet, the lilac roots aren’t likely to cause any damage to water or sewer lines. Instead, the roots will overtake the area. 

A dead tree should always be cut down, because it could fall and cause injuries or damage, and it can also attract insects like carpenter ants. A tree that’s diseased beyond repair should also be cut down, but it’s not always easy for a homeowner to tell. Signs of disease include dying branches, a hollow trunk, leaning, and discolored or missing leaves, but your best bet is to hire a local arborist who can evaluate the tree and tell you if it can be saved or should be cut down.
