R PATTI CONCRETE EXCAVATING, LLCUnbelievably well - the crews were in and out quickly and did a great job. It was a real pleasure to have workers who were very polite and asked if there was anything we wanted changed or done differently. Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them. Even when they encountered unknown obstacles they went out of their way to make sure the job was done as if they were doing it for their own homes. True professionals that did the work quickly, but the time and care producing an end product that we and they are proud of. WELL DONE!!!!- Michael D.

I did receive other bids and theirs was in line with others and they had a good reputation. The man who ran the job was quite professional and I had a good relationship with him. I did have to move out of my home during the work and they completed the job in about six weeks. I had some nice gardens around my home. Part of the contract involved them digging up the flowers, moving them, and then to re-plant them once the construction was completed. They actually hired a local landscaper to remove the plants and then landscape and replace them the following year. I was pleasantly surprised with how smooth it went and my gardens turned out wonderful! The fill that they used around the house turned out to be rubble field clay. So, when the landscaper and I had to dig down, we have run into chunks of concrete. If you have to dig down deep, it is pretty difficult to do. There were only a few small issues, but with a project that large, you would expect that. They communicated well and stayed in good contact with me. I felt that they were a good choice and I am glad I chose them for the work. I was pleased with their job.

I returned home from work on Tuesday evening (2nd day of project) to find my aluminum siding ripped from the back of my house which was totally unnecessary and caused damage to the siding. I had outlined the opening for the patio door before work which should have been cut out and the base plate could have been attached directly on the siding. (Aluminum siding goes on from the bottom up which means it must be removed from the top down to avoid damage. Any qualified contractor would have known this. The patio door was installed with no header and when I insisted he remove the door and do it right, he walked off the job and never returned. I had two independent contractors check the workmanship and the both agreed, the door needs not only a header but also a bottom plate and jack studs on both sides of the door, non of which was installed. Just nail the door in the opening and try to cover it over before somebody sees the shoddy work. The deck looked like it was build by amateurs, improper deck screws were used and the balusters and top rails were nailed on with a nail gun. The angle cuts weren't true and were filled with saw dust and dirt to cover the bad cuts.
Mr. Kieffer left the job (unfinished) on Monday morning, after showing up 3.5 hours late (3 days past his promised finished date), I thought to get more lumber to redo the patio door right, but he never came back.
I hired a qualified contractor Mark Kunkel (who really does have over 30 years of experience) to repair the damages to the aluminum siding plus remove and reinstall the patio door proper
Now I get a phone message earlier today from Stan K. claiming I broke the contract and he is calling his attorney in the morning.
I had issued another check for an additional 25% (against my better judgment) when he asked to for the unpaid balance in full promising I could trust him to finish the job and when Stan stopped work on Monday, I stopped payment on the second check the following day. (after it was clear he had no intention of returning). Guess we will have to let the Judge decide... ( a picture is worth a thousand words and I took lots of pictures). Plus there are plenty of eye witnesses!

Michael is the owner and the person who performed the work. He was punctual, professional and very knowledgeable. He was the only person who actually gave a quote and then did the work. It is extremely hard to find someone who will even return your calls. He cleaned up the entire site when the work was completed. He did not start the work for about 2 months after we hired him but it was only because it was too cold to pour concrete. As soon as the weather improved he started the work and completed it promptly. He even wrote our kids names in the concrete (we had wanted it!) for us because we would not have gotten home in time before the concrete became too hard.....
