"To start with Keith did not install Solar Panels. He installed 4 Enphase IQ 5P batteries (20kWh total) and associated equipment to my existing solar electrical system. I reached out to Enphase because the provider that installed my system went out of business and I was interested in adding battery back up to take advantage of the federal tax credits that were expiring. They referred me to Keith. After meeting with Keith and discussing the batteries I decided to move forward with the project. Keith went over my existing system and designed the battery addition. He is very knowledgeable in how all this equipment works together. He also was able to integrate my generac back up generator into the battery system giving more flexibility on how the two systems can work together and give better performance during an outage. To summarize, Keith took care of ordering and installing all needed equipment. Getting the system set up and operating. I couldn?t be more happier with its operation."

"The Solar panels was installed on a ground mount.
It was a design that I could use the space underneath for storage.  I did not want a metal system so Renewable
Engineered Systems; built a solar racking system from high end wood, designed
for boats. It was creatively built and they cleaned up all around.

Job site was left clean. System works great.

"I was very impressed with the installer who was sent. He mounted the dish without drilling through my new roof, which might have voided my roof warranty, Also, he mounted the dish in a location where it is easy for me to brush the snow off it in winter. I appreciate his knowledge and thoughtfulness. Also, they didn't charge me to re-install the dish."

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

The average homeowner needs around 22 solar panels, but the exact number depends on your monthly energy consumption. Your solar professional should size your array to offset your consumption, meaning you’ll need fewer panels if you use below-average amounts of electricity, or more than 22 if you use above-average amounts of electricity. The number of panels also depends on the output of each panel. The average is around 400 watts, but you might need more panels if you install less capable equipment. Since there are so many variables, you should have a professional size your system.

The best way to save money on solar panels is to take advantage of federal and state solar incentives. For example, the solar investment tax credit (ITC) offered by the federal government can save 30% of your total—if you can take the entire credit, which is based on income taxes owed—or an average of around $9,000. You can check the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency (DSIRE) for state and local incentives that could save you even more.

Solar well pumps range from needing 200 watts of power to as much as 12,000 watts for heavy-duty pumps. Since the most common and cost-friendly solar panels are 100-watt panels, you’ll need between two and 12 panels. The average is between two and eight panels for standard pumps. Based on the average cost of solar panels ($1 to $1.50 per watt), you’d pay between $200 and $1,800 for your well pump solar panels—not including installation.

  • Installing a new electrical meter box

  • Replacing your meter base

  • Replacing your service entrance cable

The cost to install or upgrade an electrical meter box ranges from $100 to $650, including $50 to $250 for the unit. The meter base passes the power from your electric company to your panel. The cost to replace a meter base is roughly $50 to $250.

Service entrance cables are electrical cables with multiple wires, bringing power from electrical companies to residential buildings. The cost to replace a service entrance cable ranges roughly from $1,000 to $1,500.

If you’re deciding between a solar battery versus a generator for the best backup power solution, you can take a few factors into consideration. Solar batteries are quiet while generators can be quite loud. Generators have a lower up-front cost, but they require fuel and ongoing maintenance while solar batteries are more expensive but don’t have many ongoing costs.
