"They did a great job. The job was started on time and finished on time. Clean up was complete and professional. I feel the pricing was very fair. I would give them an excellent rating and will use them again in the future."

"Chris and his team did an excellent job in hauling away our yard waste. I called on a Monday and they were here on Tuesday. We HIGHLY recommend them! It was a blistering hot and humid morning and they filled a trailer that was at least 20’ long 10’ wide and 6-7’ high. GREAT GREAT JOB!"

"I met with Ed to discuss my leaky roof… He assessed the area and had his workers there in a few days. After I inspected it, there were a few other details I wanted done, and they came back and took care of it…"

"Prompt communication, accurate estimate and schedule, job well done! This was a smooth process with great communication and attention to detail the whole way through. Kevin came out quickly with his drywall pro to give an estimate, provided a detailed estimate, and was able to adjust the schedule to add in some electrical work that we wanted. They started the job on time and completed it in the window we scheduled. There was a very minor detail that needed looking into after the job was complete and they handled it perfectly the next day. The quality of the work was great -- they tore down and replaced a ceiling. We've worked with other contractors and handyman services for small and big jobs and this company is one we'd definitely work with again (which we can't say about others)."

"Guy is a true professional. We shopped around and he came in very competitive to others. The crew was careful moving our furniture and finished the job on time. I was amazed at how CLEAN they were. The crew was constantly cleaning as they worked. I couldn't be happier with the finished results. Would definitely recommend!"

"I had a great experience planning the design of my second story addition!! The architect was great at capturing my needs and vision and provided me with suggestions to maximize the space and make it functional. Her suggestions were modern and gave the space a clean cut feel while making it cozy and inviting. She also modified a few things upon request to ensure I stuck to budget without losing my vision for the space. The whole process was explained from beginning to end with timelines and things to expect. I would totally recommend!!!"

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Yes, walls on the top floor can be load-bearing if stacked on the floor’s foundation.

Yes, a one-story house can have a load-bearing wall. The load-bearing walls in a single-story home are usually the exterior walls. If the house has a basement with exposed walls, the arrangement of the beams can help indicate what walls are load-bearing.

Framing a house with steel generally takes less time—around five to eight weeks—than most building materials. The steel components can also be made quickly off-site and manufactured with pre-punched holes for running piping and electrical wiring, which will lessen the prep work and extra labor during construction.

When deciding whether to use nails or screws for framing, the specific needs of the project must be taken into account. Nails have long been the go-to option for framing due to their affordability, ease of installation, and ability to withstand shear forces. They are perfect for structural framing projects where fast assembly is essential. In contrast, screws offer exceptional holding power and are particularly useful in situations requiring increased strength and resistance to pull-out forces. For projects that prioritize accuracy and long-lasting quality, screws may be the preferred option, though nails remain a dependable and efficient choice.

Learning how to frame a house includes picking the right lumber for the job. Most people will want to pick pine, spruce, or fir for the framing. These types of lumber are affordable and produce sturdy framing for structures. Look for kiln-dried lumber to reduce the risk of shrinkage or insect damage after installation. As part of what’s included in framing a house when you hire a professional, the contractor should order the lumber, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right lumber.
