Our team of certified professionals is trained to create the lifestyle you deserve by using the most advanced landscape designs and materials available. We want to create a paradise unique to you. It may be a front landscape design that shows off your house or a secret in the backyard perfect for entertaining. We can incorporate beautiful ponds and waterfalls, patios, paver steps, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, and retaining walls into your landscape design. We have provided many people with a beautiful place they call their dream home’s final touch. With the euphoric sounds of trickling water, Jason Howles Landscaping can provide an atmosphere that allows you to let go of the stress of everyday life and enjoy the peace and relaxation you deserve. Whether you are looking for a showcase front lawn or a cozy relaxing back yard get away; our team of professionals is there for you. When you are ready to start the process of making your landscaping dream come true, the first step is to set up a design consulation. This is the initial meeting between the decision makers of your household and our design professionals. We get a feel for your budget range, what your vision is, and key aspects of your landscape you wont be able to live without. We can then take all property measurements and photographs necessary to take back to the office to come up with your quote and/or design. The design consultation is a $50 fee due at the first meeting. This fee covers the costs of our designer working with you both on location and back at the office. The fee is then refunded when you decide to do the job and comes off your final bill. On the first visit you'll need to let the designer know if you would like a full scale blue print by our landscape architect or a real-life digital illustration using our design software. We reccomend both so you can see both the spacing of your landscape elements and a real-life visual of what it will look like upon completetion. Hourly fees do apply to both types of designs. If you like our quote and design you can then place a deposit to hold your position in the installation schedule. It is a good idea to get on the schedule early (as soon as the fall prior to the season you would like installation) due to our schedules filling up fast; especially if there is hardscaping involved. We really enjoy what we do and look forward to working with you to help create your landscaping dreams!

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

Moss growing in a lawn is a sign of poor soil that makes it hard for grass and plants to grow. Moss thrives in these conditions and spreads easily, so it can quickly take over your yard if it’s lacking in nutrients, too wet, or has an excessive amount of shade. Moss in the lawn isn’t always a bad thing, but it can prevent turfgrass from forming deep roots.

It depends on the current health of your lawn. Liquid aeration takes longer to work, but the results are longer lasting. Since you can apply the liquid solution several times during the course of the growing season, the results are cumulative. Core aeration, on the other hand, will offer quicker benefits but they will diminish sooner, right along with the soil plugs left behind.

St. Augustine is a hardy grass that’s relatively easy to grow, but it requires regular lawn maintenance to stay healthy. It’s best to keep up with a regular fertilization schedule during the growing season, plus a yearly dethatching to help it properly absorb air and moisture. Watering is also important, so be sure to water it enough to keep the soil moist.

Aeration can level your lawn if the issue is minor soil compaction, so it can help smooth things out if your yard is bumpy from foot traffic or vehicle traffic. However, it won’t slope your yard. If you have small areas where water seems to pool after precipitation, aeration could help, but larger issues with improperly sloped lawns and problems leading to foundation leaks or structural damage will require more comprehensive solutions.

Carpetgrass is a low-maintenance grass requiring little fertilization that thrives in subprime growing conditions. However, regular mowing is necessary to avoid the growth of unsightly seed stalks, and you may have to water it frequently to prevent drying out the soil. That includes watering the grass over dry winters to help keep it healthy, and it may start dying out in particularly cold climates where it grows poorly. Carpetgrass can also be vulnerable to some types of turf fungus, so it’s important not to overthatch.
