"They did an excellent and thorough job. It was done last fall and I will be hiring them again this coming Spring so that they can seal what they installed as well as seal the pre-existing part of our asphalt driveway."

"TCB applied asphalt over existing driveway to level dips and irregularities. Richard was prompt in his initial reply, quoted over the phone, and started the job the next day. Crew was personable, efficient, and tidy. Driveway looks nice.."

"Initially I had requested that Gary present to my home to provide me with an estimate on reducing a 1-2" high, roughly 20-24" long lip in my basement floor that had been the cause of an injury that occurred in my basement. Gary presented promptly to my home on the day the estimate was scheduled. I was very pleased with his overview of the work that he would perform; admittedly, I wasn't certain if the price was right because he was the first estimate I got. However, Gary would ultimately be the only estimate I would get because I found him to be very likeable and honest; he showed genuine concern when I discussed the injury that took place in the basement. I liked Gary so much that, on the day of the estimate, I would provide his name/number to a friend who had discussed with me an issue he has with his driveway. On the day of the work, Gary called me ahead of time to make me aware that he was on his way, and he arrived in the timeframe that he had provided me during the visit. He brought his employee Jeff along who was just as professional and courteous. After performing the work, Gary asked that I come down to the basement to give my opinion on what I thought. I informed him that I believed there was still a slight lip in the floor and that I was concerned that it would continue to present as a trip hazard. I hated to ask that he reduce it down more but Gary agreed with no hesitation. A short while later, Gary asked that I come down and view the work again--it looked great! Admittedly, I was so pleased that shortly after Jeff and Gary left, I texted a picture of the work to my wife, mom, and dad. Ultimately, if you value a company's professionalism, kindness, and a genuine appreciation for its craft, I would recommend A+ Plus Concrete and Foundation repair be contacted."

"Auggie and his helper came to my house as the very last customer of the day after having worked on some other jobs in the area to give me an estimate on patching some asphalt in my driveway that had created some potholes. Not only was the price more then fair but he and his helper did the job right then and there right after the estimate was given! Truely a great company, will be hiring again to seal my driveway next time!"

"In 2016 we hired Ollie and his crew to re-pave our old broken asphalt driveway. They did a fantastic job and they sealed the new asphalt immediately after. They recommended that the driveway be resealed in another 3-4 years. Well, here it is 4 years later and we are still very pleased with the driveway pavement. However, I have been calling them since early in May of this year to arrange for resealing. I talked to someone (Ollie Jr.?) twice in May and he promised to come out to look at the driveway because he could not remember it. On both occasions that he was supposed to come, he never showed up. I have called several times in the months since and always get their voicemail. They will not call me back! What do I have to do to get a callback?! That is very unprofessional! I would gladly give the company five stars all around if only they would call back and arrange to reseal the driveway before the weather gets too cold to do it! But right now, I am very disappointed in their business practices."

"Excellent! Work was done on time, beautifully done. Area was left clean each day, and Patrick got back to me afterwards to make sure I was happy with the work. My neighbor saw what a good job they did and hired them on the spot to do a job for him!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

New asphalt typically needs 24 to 72 hours to dry before it can handle light foot traffic and careful driving. Although it may appear solid after a few days, the full curing process, where the asphalt reaches its peak strength, takes much longer—generally from 30 days to a year.

During this extended curing time, the surface remains relatively soft and can be damaged by heavy vehicles, sharp objects, or high temperatures. To protect your investment, it's best to avoid parking heavy machinery on the asphalt until it has fully cured.

The exact time required for drying and curing depends on several factors, including the weather, the specific asphalt mix, and its thickness. For the most accurate advice tailored to your situation, consult with your asphalt contractor.

Chip seal layers gravel and a liquid bitumen one at a time on-site, while asphalt directly pours a pre-combined mixture. Asphalt must be sealed, but it will last up to four times as long as chip seal driveways. Aesthetically, chip seal has a natural, rustic look compared to the traditional asphalt slab.

A solid driveway starts with the right asphalt mix, and for most homes, dense-graded hot mix asphalt (HMA) is the most recommended. It’s both durable and flexible, making it a reliable choice for residential use. A properly compacted 2-3 inch layer on a well-prepared crushed stone base will hold up for years. In areas with harsh winters or scorching summers, a slightly modified mix can help prevent cracking and rutting. No matter the climate, quality installation is just as important as the material itself, so hiring an experienced contractor ensures a smooth, long-lasting driveway built to last.

DIY is not recommended due to equipment and expertise requirements. Professional services ensure durability and proper grading.
