"Cummings Plumbing & Excavating came to service my water filtration system. They had serviced it in the past, and they discovered I needed a new filtration system installed. They did a high quality installation, and got project done in one day. They are very knowledgeable, and skilled. It was a great experience using them."

"I was so impressed with John Bulboff Plumbing's quality of work. They were pleasant and professional and left a neat work site, removing unwanted items. They did all the work I originally ask them to do as well as some we added while they was there, which I appreciated. And a big plus, their pricing was very fair."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Clogs in a sprinkler valve can be caused by various factors, including debris in the water supply, sediment buildup inside the valve, or damage to the diaphragm. Debris and sediment can accumulate over time, obstructing the valve's passages and impeding water flow. Damaged diaphragms may develop tears or holes, leading to blockages and affecting the valve's ability to open or close properly. Regular maintenance and cleaning can help prevent and address these issues, ensuring your sprinkler valve operates smoothly.

On average, a plumber will take 30 minutes to two hours to clear a clogged drain. If the clog is located close to the drain or an access point and isn’t severe, the project will take about half an hour. If the clog is deep within your plumbing system or is a severe blockage, it can take two or more hours to remove the clog. For this reason, main line clogs tend to take longer, usually between two and three hours.

The P-trap (or S-trap in older homes) under your shower is designed to prevent sewer gas from coming back up, so you shouldn’t normally experience foul odors coming from your shower drain. If you do, the vent stack that introduces air into your plumbing system may be clogged, or you may have a more severe sewer main blockage. In either case, hire a plumber to fix the issue for you.

Grease buildup, tree roots, and foreign objects often cause blockages. Regular maintenance prevents major issues.

It is generally not recommended to pour hot or boiling water down a drain to unfreeze pipes due to significant risks. In some cases, the sudden temperature change can cause more ice buildup or produce steam, which increases pressure and could cause the pipe to burst, leading to costly damage and potential burn injuries. While hot water might help with a partially frozen drainpipe, it is unlikely to thaw a completely blocked water pipe further down the system. Additionally, boiling water can damage plastic pipes over time. Safer and more effective methods include using a space heater near the frozen section or applying hot towels directly to the pipe.
