"I couldn't believe how fast they got the cut down and what a great job they did cleaning up. I give those guys alot of credit for what they do, the day they cut my tree down was so very hot! I couldn't do that. That heat was terrible! If you need any tree work done I would recommend them they were reasonable in price and they did a wonderful job."

"We needed a fairly large tree removed in our backyard and reached out to GF trees service and spoke to Benji. He made it a priority to answer all questions we had and come out the same day to give us a price quote. We hired Benji and his team that day, the very next day he came out and within a few hours the tree was removed and yard was cleaned up from all debris. Excellent customer service and work performed. I would recommend GF trees service to anyone needing tree removal services."

"I have struggled with landscapers in the past as once the sale is made, there is minimal attention . PN was a pleasant surprise. John (owner) was involved from start to finish including several visits during the job. He has also been attentive to several small follow-ups. The landscaping work is very professional and attractive . My property required a fairly complex irrigation system solution. PN did an excellent job of addressing all challenges. Would hire again!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

In the short term, you’ll have a lot of fallen trees to deal with. Tree removal services costs typically start at $200 per tree and increase based on species and size. Then, you’ll have to deal with the loss of trees: That means a loss of shade and a greater risk of rain runoff and erosion. Also, you’ll miss out on the health and aesthetic benefits of having trees on your property, which could even affect the resale value of your home.

That being said, cutting down a tree it’s not always a bad idea. Trees growing too close to rooftops can present fire hazards or debris problems. You may need to remove diseased or dying trees to prevent future issues.

A tree can split because of high winds, a change in temperature, or from an infestation or tree disease. All of these factors can overlap, making a single cause difficult to pinpoint. While winter storms are some of the most common causes for a tree to split, it can also happen because of termites or rot.

Dutch elm disease can’t harm humans. In fact, according to Cal Fire, bark beetles aren’t even typically dangerous to trees unless that tree is already weakened. The problem comes when Dutch elm disease kills a tree. That tree is more at risk of falling and catching fire, which can pose a serious threat.

How often and long you should water a tree depends on the species and if it is mature or newly planted. The amount of water is also based on the tree's size. A good rule of thumb is approximately 5 gallons per inch of the trunk's diameter.

Adjusting watering to the recommended suggestions for the tree type and weather conditions is vital. For instance, watering trees during a drought is necessary, and you may need to water more frequently than usual.

Generally, you should prune around 20% of an apple tree’s growth—and never more than 30%. This means that if you have a severely overgrown tree, it can take a few seasons to prune it back enough to produce the healthiest fruit.

If you’re dealing with a newly planted or juvenile tree, hold off on pruning beyond the initial shaping. Wait at least a couple of seasons into fruit production since pruning can increase the number of water sprouts and unproductive foliage.
