"We called for a over flow of a vent stack under our kitchen sink. A guy came out worked on cleaning the drain line to the main sewer stack. He got a little bit out ran a test and called it fixed. A few days later we were hearing noises from the kitchen sink when the toilet flushed. I called back expecting a recall but the dispatcher said I would need to talk to the owner. He called me and said it was a different problem and another $280. The 1st request for a receipt fell through I asked the owner to have a receipt emailed. I didn't happen, had to call a 3rd time. I decide to wait since the stack wasn't overflowing. Then a week later the over flow of the stack came back. I decided to call again thinking now it was a recall. Again I was told I needed to talk to the owner and he would call. I never got the call. At that point I decide to spend the money on a new plumbing company. The new guy came out determined quickly it was an air lock, corrected it and it's been a month now without issue working great and at 1/2 the price. Also a note on Geiger: the dispatchers in all cases seem over whelmed and over worked. There is a silver lining, I was talking to plumber that 1st came out about replacing our outside sewer line because of root problems and now I know who not to call!!!"

"I recently had Good's Plumbing, Heating & Cooling install a new high-efficiency air conditioner and furnace. The installation process went smoothly from start to finish. The team arrived on time, were very professional, and worked efficiently. They made sure everything was installed correctly and kept the work area clean and organized throughout the process. After the installation, they took the time to provide thorough training on the new system, explaining how to use the Ion connected thermostat and all the features of the high-efficiency units. This training was incredibly helpful and made me feel confident in using the new equipment. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the work performed by Good's Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling. Their attention to detail, professionalism, and customer service were top-notch. I highly recommend them for anyone in need of HVAC services."

Cuccaro Plumbing is a full service plumbing company (including gas lines, dye testing, and backflow tests). We handle residential, commercial and industrial. We have about 20-30 Employees, depending on the season. We do not use subcontractors. Our health permit number is 1080. We have our state contractor's license (HIC #PA061457). For Angie's Lists members, we offer a 10% discount for service calls only.

"Hired Cuccaro to come and help us with a leaking pipe into our basement. We were told it would be $95 an hour to come and diagnose it. Josh, who was sent out, cut into our ceiling and wall, and poked around slowly in our crawl spaces for two hours. At the end of two hours, told me that our issue was going to require the eyes of a more experienced plumber, Matt, and that someone would reach out to us to schedule it. When I asked about their schedule and when we could expect a follow up, he said a few days. On his way out, he surprised me by saying that we were welcome to call a different plumber. Over a week passed, and I did not hear back from them, but I did get flooded by automated emails and text messages asking me to review them on Google. I called to follow up with the front desk, and was told that someone needed to come out and diagnose the problem. When I asked if we were going to be charged in addition for the time that Josh had come out to diagnose our problem, I was told that she would check with the owner and get back to me. Weeks passed, and no one ever followed up. I did indeed call another plumber, who came out the next week and fixed our issue. A month and a half later, I got a bill from Cuccaro for services rendered, which included leaving holes in our ceiling for us to fix and zero follow-through on our issue. I called them to ask about it and got their voicemail. Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else."

FAQs for sewer cleaning projects in Pittsburgh, PA

In most states, companies that perform sewer cleaning services don’t need specific licensing, but you should always ensure you hire a licensed and certified plumber to get the work done. You can use our state licensing tool to check whether the potential sewer cleaning company holds a plumber’s certification and license. Hiring a certified sewer cleaning services guarantees that the work will be done safely, there won’t be additional damage done to your home, and the problem will be fixed.

The average cost to snake your main sewer line is around $250 for a simple snake. Most sewer line specialists charge between $45 and $200 per hour for main sewer line snaking, so the time involved plays a major role. The price you’ll pay will depend on the severity of the clog, the item causing the backup, how long it takes to remove the item, and more. A more severe issue that requires unclogging a main sewer line will cost $3,100 on average.

There are a few signs of a clog in your main sewer line that you should keep in mind.

Common signs of a sewer line clog:

  • Multiple fixtures in your home drain slowly

  • Drains in your home gurgle during or after draining

  • Water backs up into your sewer line cleanout

  • You notice foul odors in your home

The best way to confirm that your main sewer line is clogged is to hire a professional plumber to assess the situation and use a camera to inspect the inside.

In most cases, drain cleaners will not clear a clogged sewer line, and they’re likely to damage your plumbing. Sewer lines are several inches wide, meaning any material that clogs it will need to be large. Drain cleaner can work on small clogs, but it usually won’t clear a larger one in a sewer main. Drain cleaners can also easily damage and corrode your plumbing with prolonged contact, and a clog will keep the cleaner in contact with the pipes for an extended period. Hire a professional sewer cleaner instead for a safe fix.

You should not attempt to snake your sewer yourself. Accessing and snaking your sewer requires heavy-duty equipment, and while renting is possible, misusing it can damage your sewer main and leave you with very expensive repair costs, not to mention potential environmental issues and severe water damage. Accessing your sewer also exposes you to hazardous sewer gasses, and failing to seal the sewer properly after work can be very dangerous. It’s always best to hire a professional sewer cleaner near you to handle this type of work.
