"John was an easy-going person to work with. I could tell right away that he knew exactly what he was doing. He made recommendations to do a skim coat and gave it a day to cure. The next day he installed the tile and gave it another day to cure. The thi..."
"I am very pleased with the way the shower now looks. Due to cracked and old tiles, the shower leaks are now repaired. The leaks were due to the tiles, per plumber evaluation. The shower full was completely replaced with new tile. I had no idea it would look as beautiful as it does. The work was completed in 1-1/2 days. The technicians, Ryan and Cory worked diligently and professionally in a very "hot" bathroom. They were very considerate of my pets and my work environment. Dennie made it a point to check with the men and see that all was going accordingly. He also checked multiple times with me to see if I was satisfied with the way the job was going. I do have more work that will need to be completed in the bathroom. I am so pleased with the way this job was done and how beautiful my shower looks...I will definitely hire Dennie's Resurfacing for future work. I will also recommend this company, these workers to friends and relatives. The charge for this job was very fair. Anyone who hires Dennie's Resurfacing will not be disappointed."
"Perfect, George Merryfield and his crew cooperated in every way and all work was independently inspected and certified. I can strongly recommend Merryfield Construction to anyone considering home repair or improvement work."
"Excellent! I can't say enough good things about this project. We live in a 1920 Dutch Colonial, our walkway was falling apart. Miguel gave us samples to look at that would match our front Brick porch. The brickyard he sent us to allowed us to bring samples home to compare. He ordered what we wanted and within 4 days began the project. He came early in the morning and stayed well into the evening and completed the job in 2 days from demolition and removal of the old walk to the installation of the new one. He seeded the lawn that edged it. We selected him because he a patio and driveway and walkway for our nextdoor neighbors. We've lived here since 1974 and people trust the contractors we use. We highly recommend him and we always like to hire local owner operated businesses. For an additional fee he planted 2 trees in the front of the house. We are very satisfied."
Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts
Tile—specifically smaller, mosaic-style tiles—is the best type of flooring for building a walk-in shower base. Shower pans come with a threshold and sidewalls to contain the water, but tile can be set into the shower base. This creates a walk-in shower floor that gently slopes toward the drain to keep water from getting out and into the rest of the bathroom.
There are several different products that allow underwater repair. Pool putty can help repair chips, cracks, and loose tiles without draining your pool, but it should only be used for a temporary fix. Certain two-part epoxy adhesives will cure underwater, too. That said, while it is technically possible to fix pool tiles underwater, it is usually not ideal, depending on the depth of your pool. You will still have to reach the tile, which means you might have to dive and make the repair while submerged.
Yes, tile floor removal is a physically demanding project that takes between eight and 12 hours per 100 square feet. It also requires protective gear and closing the area off with construction-grade plastic sheeting to avoid dust and damage to other parts of your home.
You cannot tile directly over hot mop waterproofing because tile requires a smooth, solid surface to adhere properly. Additionally, the shower bed pan needs to be raised and sloped toward the drain to prevent water from pooling. However, you can hot mop and apply a sloped mortar bed over the top (to which the tile can then be adhered).
If you want your ceramic tiles to be evenly spaced and installation to take less time, spacers are a crucial part of the installation process.
