"Chris of Chris the Contractor was an exceptional and professional contractor that we trusted in remodeling and repairing our kitchen area in our home, very dependable, knowledgeable and very customer friendly and informative. He answered all our questions and concerns during and after construction. Higher quality workmanship that was left a very impressive kitchen more than we expected. His entire team and staff was very professional and informative as well, I couldn’t ask for a better outcome and my family and neighbors were also impressed as well, also, I was surprised when I saw that Chris was on a segment of Home and Garden network as well, I fully recommend this highly qualified contractor for high quality workmanship and professionalism. "I can’t say enough good things about this company. We hired them to do a kitchen renovation. Both Mitch and Bob did an outstanding job in every aspect. They they were very knowledgeable and quick to resolve any issues that arose unexpectedly. They paid great attention to detail didn’t rush through any of the projects and still finished in a timely manner. They both showed up every day on time and they responded to any phone calls or questions in a timely manner. We have hired many contractors over the years and I honestly can say I would not recommend any of them to my friends or family. However, in this case I would be very happy to recommend both Mitch and Bob to any of my friends or family. It gives me piece of mind to know that on my future projects I won’t have to search for a contractor. I’ll know exactly where to go. 5stars"

"First Class did a great job finishing out our kitchen remodel. There were a number of items left unfinished by another contractor that had to be addressed. There was a custom tile installation that was done beneath a bar that looks out incredible. In addition there was installation of wire-mold under cabinet outlets, trim work, tile backsplash repair, spackle and painting. First Class showed up on time, performed high quality work, cleaned up after every visit and worked within a reasonable budget."

"Rafael did a wonderful job remodeling two bathrooms, installing hardwood flooring, and making various updates to an older condo. He was great to work with and we are very happy with the outcome of his hard work."

"I work from home full-time, so having contractors in the house for several weeks made me nervous. But honestly, the Belmax crew made it so stress-free. They showed up on time every morning, greeted my dog, asked before moving anything, and cleaned up before leaving. The project manager checked in constantly, and I always knew what was happening next. The new island and layout make cooking so much easier, and the craftsmanship is obvious ? even the small details look perfect. It feels good when a company treats your home with respect. Belmax absolutely earned my trust."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

The cost to install a bow window can range from $1,500 to $15,000, with a national average of $3,900. The total price includes materials, which can cost between $1,200 and over $14,000, and labor, which typically adds $300 to $1,900. Several factors influence the final cost, including the window's size and frame material. For example, vinyl frames are the most budget-friendly option, while wood frames are more expensive. Custom features or energy-efficient upgrades will also increase the price. For comparison, a bay window installation typically costs between $1,000 and $7,000.

The cost to frame a 2,000-square-foot house can fall anywhere between $14,000 and $32,000. This price can increase or decrease depending on what type of framing you choose, the quality of the materials, the project's complexity, and whether you decide to hire a professional to do the job.

Yes, you can find ceiling joists using simple tools if a stud finder isn't available.

Using a hammer requires patience and a keen ear. Gently tap the ceiling in a grid pattern, listening for sound changes. A hollow sound indicates space between joists, while a solid, dull thud suggests a joist. Mark the location with a pencil and confirm by tapping from different angles.

Alternatively, you can use a nail, but this method will leave small holes. You'll feel increased resistance when the nail hits a joist. Mark the spot and repeat the process every 16 or 24 inches to map the joist locations. This method is considered less reliable than using a stud finder.

Yes, using certified lumber and engineered wood products for reduced environmental impact.

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.
