John and his crew were a pleasure to deal with. John kept in constant communication with us and let us know what the problems were as well as the solutions. He and his crew went above and beyond to get our house ready to go on the market. We had a multitude of issues that needed attention and they got them all fixed up and looking good. John is extremely knowledgeable in all areas of construction and we would highly recommend him to anyone in need of his services.

We highly recommend John and On Call Contracting. We had an emergency situation with our well pump recently in the middle of one of the coldest weekends in January 2021. John answered the call, walking us through troubleshooting and eventually replacing the well pump. A very difficult job that required knowledge & ability in several different trades! This was during a pandemic, in the middle of a freezing cold snap and right before a major snow storm! John is amazing, mindful of safety and provides quality service! On Call is our first call when we need help! JGC

Looks good, and got done in a timely fashion

I was completely amazed at the work done by On-Call. We just purchased a 130+ yr. old house that requires all kinds of work. Nothing is a readily available standard size but they have always been able to come through and solve the problem. Just amazing !

On Call Contracting is amazing! Prompt, affordable service for our growing family. We needed our kitchen done (including removing walls) and John was our guy! The entire process went so smooth and the results are beautiful. We had an out dated kitchen from 1960 and On Call helped us design, remove, re-build, and install our new kitchen cabinets and everything! Couldnt be happier and would highly recommend!

Fast and clean. All the guys were cool and polite. I passed there info on to my neighbor.

Very well, will certainly use Joe again if we have any other handyman needs.

I originally contracted with OCC in 2012 to install a 3/4 bathroom. I usually like to give good reviews even if some work is shoddy, by trying to highlight the positive outcomes. However, I cannot think of any positive outcome in this case. The company didn't install it as per our agreement and then abandoned the job before it was finished, leaving me with the mess. I know that sometimes things happen so I tried to contact the owner, John Ott for MONTHS to attempt some kind of resolution. He refused to communicate with me and had his secretary tell me that he was out of the country, busy, not in the office...etc. I am a pretty easy-going person but after 4 YEARS (statute of limitations for construction) I had no choice but to take him to court, March 9, 2016. He told the judge he wasn't aware of the issue even though I had already submitted a stack of the email correspondences and several copies of the contracts with his letterhead. After hearing both sides, the judge obviously awarded in my favor. After 45 days and not receiving any settlement or even any contact at all, I emailed John Ott's lawyer who informed me that he wasn't representing Mr. Ott and then forwarded my email to Mr. Ott advising him to deal directly with me.

Mr. Ott emailed that he would only pay me a 'few dollars a month' to show the courts that he was making an attempt to settle and that it was my choice to accept it or not. He also wrote, and I quote " If you choose to spend more money pursuing this, that is also your choice. I do not believe any court will allow you to add those costs..." He didn't specify what the 'few dollars' a month meant. He made no offer to work it out any other way at all.  This is why I cannot think of anything positive to offer this review.

Folks like this make me feel sympathy for all of the honest hard working talented contractors out there. I just want to caution customers to check a company's insurance policy, actually read what the coverage is, and ask for past references. I love to recommend contractors to others who have done good work for me. I am sorry to say, John Ott is not one of them.

It was great  They showed up one day late, but the office called and informed me the day before that they would be a day late getting started.  They came everyday, they informed me of what they would be doing.  They gave me advance notice on when I needed to pick out my appliances, vanity, tiles etc.  They gave me good advice on what would work.  Their designs with my average tile turned it into a show tile.  I simply cannot say enough about how happy I am with the final results.  And oh yes, here is the best part, they cleaned up my house and made it almost dust free every single day.  What more could you ask for.

I had the ugliest kitchen ever! I immediately called the ONLY company I would let work for me, On Call Contracting Services. John immediately came out and gave me an estimate, but before the estimate he had me set up with an architect to redesign my lay out and John made some great suggestions that the architect put into effect. John worked the estimate to fit my budget and I decided it was now or never so I signed on the dotted line! And his company did quite a remarkable job! I couldn't believe the transformation from what I had to live with for years, to what I now LOVE and enjoy being in my kitchen again. Thank you John Ott and all the men who did this gorgeous transformation! They were THE most courteous workers I've ever dealt with. They cleaned up the area completely each day before they left. They were very careful not to let my cats out when they came in and out of the doors. They even called one morning to say they were running late but would be there within the hour. What contractors do that? They work quickly but they do such a fantastic job! I encourage everyone to call this company for anything, any kind of work you need. I would never call anyone but On Call Contracting Services, they're the best and I have been using them for years and I have referred them to all my friends!
BTW, I have also read the previous reviews and I'm not sure if Mr Barlow is talking about the same company as I am. Because On Call Contracting is FANTASTIC and they are only a phone call away and respond immediately.

The work was okay but it took them forever. They started it on March 11th and they finished it on August 29th. They didn't show up and I had to keep calling them to see when they were coming to finish. When they came, they were on time, so I would grade them ‘B' on punctuality. They could improve on communication and showing up. I would not use them again in the future.

It was reasonable and they marvelous about cleaning up.

They were professional in their approach. They did a good job but they weren't as thorough as their competitor. All of their prices were competitive.

Whole experience was great! They came out promptly for an estimate that was way more reasonable then some others we received. The job was scheduled, they came out and finished he job in the allotted time frame and were professional throughout the whole process. Would definitely use them again as well as recommend them to friends and family.

As part of redoing my kitchen, and putting in a Japanese Garden in the back of the house, I had the sunroom redone to have a picture window and window seat. There had been so many leaks before I bought the house that the shed roof and walls were disintegrating. On Call Contracting had to rebuild the outer wall and repair the shed ceiling before drywalling the new ceiling. They then repaired the roof, replaced and widened the back door and storm door, put in a picture window with cherry trimmed frame and cherry window seat. They did a magnificent job in every aspect. The workmanship was outstanding. The crew was courteous and professional, they worked continuously to complete the job on time. The end result exceeded my expectations and I would happily use them again for future work.
