Hellmann's Tree Service in Pittsburgh is your go-to tree service provider. With our team of experts, we deliver on our promises and get the job done right. Contact us today for all your tree service needs!

"Doesn't return calls or emails and is unprofessional. He removed the tree but was late grinding the stump, which I communicated from the beginning I needed done in order to lay a foundation for my retaining wall. Not only was he late and didn't communicate when he could come back, he didn't grind it deep enough so we had to pay extra for someone else to come out and finish the job. Below are the email communications with dates and times. You can see that from the project start the timeline was in place and Ray knew I needed the stump removed before the retaining wall foundation could be laid. I told him on Wednesday, June 3 that the wall was going to be removed in the next couple of days and asked how much lead time he needed. I got no response. He did not return any of our calls when we were trying to get him to come out and grind the stump. He didn't respond with a date until June 11 and didn't come out until June 14. If he would have told me he couldn't meet my timeline I could have gotten someone else to do it. I had to hire someone else anyway because he couldn't even grind the stump deep enough for my walls foundation, which would have been nice to know before committing to the project. His price is fair, he does quick work, but he is unprofessional in my opinion and it cost us time and money. We have the experience and we are committed to providing quality workmanship and superior customer service on all our applications. We at BeaverJack Tree Service strive to maintain our reputation as a high quality, very service oriented company with our main focus being customer satisfaction.

"I had a tree removed after a storm knocked it over. I contracted and paid to have the stump removed as well. While the tree was removed quickly I have been waiting over two months to get the stump removed. When I call I just get excuses that the stump removal equipment is broken. No one will talk to me but the receptionist. Very frustrating."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Dying trees and even dead trees can spread diseases to other living trees. There are many different types of tree diseases, so it’s essential to address the issue as soon as possible to prevent the disease from spreading to other healthy trees. If the tree cannot be saved and is infected, you need to have it removed to protect the other trees on your property.

If you’re planning on keeping the tree, unless the roots are invasive, there’s no need to remove them, as doing so can cause damage to the tree. If the tree has been cut down and the stump and roots are left, grinding and removing the stump can cause root decay for some species. For other species, the stump and roots will need to be removed to prevent pests, disease, and possible tree regrowth.

If executed correctly your tree should survive after being transplanted to a new spot. However, effective transplanting requires six months, careful root pruning, safe transport to the new location, and replanting in prime soil conditions. You’ll also need an appropriately sized root ball for a complete tree transplant. A good rule of thumb is that, for every inch in diameter, your tree’s root ball needs to be around 11 inches. So a tree with a diameter of six inches needs a root ball of approximately 66 inches.

In the case that a tree is growing directly on your property line, the cost of maintaining the tree is shared and is the property of both owners in common. In this case, all decisions regarding the maintenance of the tree must be made jointly, and both parties must agree on a course of action. You will need to agree with your neighbor about the cutting of any roots before you carry it out, and your neighbor must also consult with you before doing any trimming. Coming to an agreement with your neighbor about any shared trees ahead of necessary trimming and maintenance will make this process much simpler.

While the trees in your backyard are good for the environment and look beautiful, they could present a danger to your home under the wrong circumstances. This task is typically beyond the capabilities of the average homeowner due to its dangerous nature, so it’s best to leave this task to a professional. In some cities, it’s even illegal to remove a tree yourself.
