"Josh, the representative from Basement Gurus was outstanding! We had experienced a water issue in our finished basement. Josh thoroughly examined the interior and exterior of the home and determined that the leak might be plumbing related. Josh could have very easily exploited our ignorance and suggested a solution purely beneficial to his company that may not have addressed the underlying cause of the problem. Instead, he demonstrated his integrity by realistically assessing the situation even if it would jeopardize the sale. This is commendable particularly in this era where cutthroat business practices are commonplace. I highly recommend Basement Gurus. They are fortunate to have an employee like Josh who exhibits concern for the customer at such a high level. "

Our personnel make up the complete collection of the best in the industry with decades of experience. We are a small family-owned business, not a giant corporation. We treat you like family and that's the difference! We pride ourselves on being the most professional family-owned business in our industry. We employee the highest caliber employees and use the best quality products available. We are fully licensed Home Improvement Contractors in every state we serve with the goal of leading the forefront of innovation in all that we do and setting the standard in this trade. We were the first to: Conduct mold remediation while simultaneously waterproofing. Offer lifetime warranties for our waterproofing services for the life of the structure. Offer lifetime warranties for the sump pumps. (We know they will not last a lifetime; it is a free replacement for our customers and our appreciation of their business). Clean out basement crawlspaces and garages while waterproofing.

"The job inside was done. However the drainage put in outside has turned our yard into a swimming pool. We once had a pipe draining to the creek and this was a perfect solution to the rains/weather. These guys came in and put a round small cylinder well. Water pumps up into our yard turning it into a swamp. Called them to come and see the problem they created. Their response $2900 to fix THEIR DAMAGE. I WOULD NEVER RECCOMEND THIS COMPANY!!"

Groundworks specializes in helping homeowners with their foundation repair, basement waterproofing, crawl space, and concrete needs. Our top priority is providing high-quality home repair solutions and personalized service across western Pennsylvania. With fully trained technicians, industry-leading products, and nationally backed warranties, Groundworks is here to restore your foundation or basement.

"We hired Groundworks (formerly Baker?s Waterproofing) for a $20,000 basement waterproofing project that was promised to be fast, dust-free, and high-quality. Instead, our home was left coated in concrete dust, parts of the job were rushed, and unsafe wiring still powers our sump pump. Promised electrician service has yet to happen. Three months later, the $10,000 filtration system is still unusable. This project has cost us significant time, caused stress for our family, and left us with ongoing safety concerns. We cannot recommend this company based on our experience. Although one middle manager tried to help and arranged partial repairs, upper management ignored most issues. Three months later, the air filtration system remains unusable, electrical hazards persist, and no restitution has been made. What an exhausting mistake at a deeply personal cost. "

We are a family owned & operated business providing Basement Waterproofing, Mold Remediation, Structural Repairs and Crawl Space Encapsulation to the New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and Delaware area. We have over 20 years of combined experience, and are fully licensed and insured in both New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. We strive for excellence and are proud to offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. We look forward to helping your family today! Secondary Address: 5211 Arendell Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19114.

"job was done in a timely manner, however was not done in a professional workman like manner, Which the contract states it would be done. When the estimator came he explained what would be done to eliminate water issue. When we asked how does water get removed outside and how they would undermine stairs and walls he simple stated the installers will go over that with you when they come. The installers said they would be channeling under the step and walls, which are only 2 1/2 inch walls. The last step was also a simple channel as well. More time consuming perhaps, when you charge $3000.00 more than another contractor, homeowners are believing they are getting a professional job! They cut her stair runner instead of peeling it back so it could be glued back down. she needs replace whole runner now and company could care less including there estimator! sheetrock replacement also more expensive because took a hammer to the walls instead of saw zall, nice straight lines! also have photos."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Cobblestone fell out of favor with the advent of motor vehicles. Asphalt and concrete are both much smoother surfaces allowing for a smoother ride. Asphalt is also much cheaper, especially for driveways. However, we didn’t stop using cobblestone altogether, and you can still see it as a decorative option in both homes, in parks, and in pedestrianized areas of cities.

Staining or painting brick isn’t something to do on a whim. Make sure you really want to live with stained brick, because once you apply the stain, it’s permanent. Sure, it will fade over time, but you can’t restore the brick to its natural tones after applying a stain or paint.

Yes, bricks can crack over time. While spotting a crack (or several) might be nerve-wracking, cracked bricks aren’t always cause for concern. In fact, it’s normal to see a few small cracks as your foundation settles. However, if the cracks are getting wider or longer or you keep finding new ones, you should have a masonry professional inspect them right away. You should also contact a pro if you notice any large or vertical cracks in your bricks.

You can hang holiday lights on brick without drilling by using hot glue, outdoor tape, or brick clips for your project. There are plenty of alternatives to consider, so consult a professional Christmas light installer to discuss the best options to preserve your brick exterior.

It’s called cobblestone because it’s made of stones that are “cobbed” together. A cob is a term that refers to rounded lumps. Originally, cobblestone streets were made from pebbles and stones gathered from riverbeds that had been rounded over time by the passage of water. The term has nothing to do with a cobbler, which is the term for someone who makes and fixes shoes.
