"I was originally told that there would be two workers that were going to come out and work on this project. That day only one worker came out and the work that was done was terrible. He sealed the room off and started to remove the carpet and tile. He came out in the midst of working on the project and told me it was going to end up being a pretty easy project. Several hours later he came back out of the sealed room and told me I could go and look at the room. When I peered into the room it was atrocious. There were still tack strips with exposed sharp ends. There were tar paper sheets sticking up off of the hardwoods underneath the carpet and tile. The hardwoods themselves were absolutely ruined and gouged. I wanted them to be refinished but now they are absolutely ruined. Customer solutions have not been helpful for me and now I am at a standstill. I do not recommend."

Whether or not to buy a home containing asbestos is ultimately a decision for the homebuyer, and there are several things to consider. When in good condition and contained, asbestos is unlikely to present a health risk—it’s when those tiny fibers are loose and airborne that they become a problem. Consider any renovations you plan on doing to the home that could disturb existing asbestos and the cost of removal. The settling of asbestos fibers can also occur as water makes them heavy, which reduces the risk of airborne exposure, though future disturbance of the materials could cause risk. Wetting asbestos-containing materials does not constitute safe removal, and the proper handling and disposal of asbestos materials should be left to professionals.

If the tiles are undamaged and in good condition, painting can be a safe method of encapsulating them, but it is important first to evaluate the state of the tiles before proceeding. If the tiles are deteriorating, damaged, or already loose, simply painting over them fails to address the underlying issues that can cause asbestos exposure. It is recommended to consult asbestos abatement experts in such situations to identify the best way to safely manage or remove the asbestos-containing materials. During the painting process, it is crucial to adhere to safety regulations and guidelines to reduce the potential health risks associated with asbestos exposure.
