"A pleasure to work with! Following the snow and ice storm a couple of weeks ago, one of the ceilings in my home started leaking. I contacted Pinnacle and Manny was there to inspect the issue within a couple of hours. They used drone technology to capture images of the exterior to identify the source of the problem. They took steps to remediate the issue inside the home and as soon as the outside temperatures allowed, returned to repair/replace the damaged areas of the Philadelphia gutter and drainage system. Manny was prompt, professional and followed through on everything he said he would do in a timely manner. The workers were prompt and tidy. It was also a pleasure working with Vanessa at the office who was very responsive and engaged throughout the process. Even though most of our communications were via text, her kindness, warmth, and professionalism were consistently evident. I highly recommend this company and look forward to hiring them for future projects."

"Tom did a great job for us getting 3 skylights replaced, taking about 2 hours to complete each one. I was very happy with the results, especially after the rain and snow we've had - no leaks."

"Dan and his son are an absolute dream come true and no one in our family will ever hire somebody else. Are basement was completely unfinished, and in fact had a lot of our junk all over, and Dan was able to listen carefully to our ideas and thoughtfully make recommendations as to what would work best. The end result is honestly so much better than we ever imagined. Our kids now spend a lot of time in the basement playing games and making memories. We could not be happier with our decision to trust Dan, and in fact we miss seeing him like we did during the project! After finishing our basement, all of our friends asked who was able to do such a good job, and subsequently we've referred Dan and his son to our in-laws and also our good friends for major projects. Look no further, this is the team you are trying to find!"

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Leaks are the top concern for skylights, often due to improper installation or worn-out seals. Over time, water can seep in and cause major damage to your home’s ceilings and walls. Other common issues include condensation, which leads to mold, as well as physical damage from weather or debris. If they’re not sealed properly, skylights can also bring unwanted heat in the summer or cold in the winter, affecting your home’s energy efficiency and tacking on extra dollars to your bills.

Professionals repair or seal a skylight by inspecting for damages, resealing any gaps with appropriate weatherproofing materials, replacing cracked glass or seals, and ensuring the frame is tightly fitted to prevent future leaks and ensure proper drainage.

Yes, you can install skylights on an existing roof, and it’s a common service that many homeowners opt for, especially on older homes built when skylights weren’t as prevalent. The installation process will be a bit more involved, and the design and planning process will take longer, meaning you’ll pay more to install a skylight on an existing roof than you would in new construction. The process involves cutting a hole in the roof, moving rafters, if necessary, and installing and sealing around the skylight.

Skylights might sometimes increase your homeowners insurance premium, but the increase is usually minimal. Some home insurance companies won’t adjust your premium with the addition of a skylight, so you can contact your insurer or your professional skylight installer to ask about any expected changes. It’s crucial to have an expert install the skylight, as insurance companies may not insure your roof or cover water damage that results from a non-professional skylight installation.

Pros of installing a skylight include the fact that you will get much more natural light in your home, skylights can make your room look bigger than it actually is, and your home may increase in value. Cons include difficult upkeep (you may have to get on a ladder to clean and maintain them), higher installation costs, and, potentially, too much heat gain from all the extra sunlight.
