"In November of 2019 on Wednesday, before Thanksgiving the Wind Blew Off Rows of Shingles exposing my home to rain and snow. The Owner of C & H came to my home on Thanksgiving quoted me a very fair price. C & H Roofing Crew repaired my Roof on Friday just before a freezing rain snow storm was coming for the week. C & H Roof Repair Crew started in 7 AM and finished early afternoon. They brought their own equipment, reinforced other parts of the roof, and cleaned up the area as well. I was very satisfied as well as grateful ever since they did this job on a Holiday Weekend. I will always call C & H on any Home Project or Repair Emergencies. This Review was written well after Months of C & H Construction Finished the job and I have had High Winds again, but C & H Repairs are still holding up just as they promised. There are many ways to cut through roots when digging, especially if your trencher doesn’t seem to be removing the roots. First, use a shovel to expose the roots. Then, use gardening shears to clear out smaller roots or a reciprocating saw to remove larger plant roots. If you plan on keeping the plant, avoid cutting any roots over 2 inches thick.

If you’re looking to rot a tree stump fast, potassium nitrate will work far quicker than copper nails. First, drill several holes into the stump using a power drill, then pour potassium nitrate pellets into the holes. Next, add water to help the chemical absorb into the wood, thoroughly soaking the stump to ensure the pellets dissolve and spread evenly. Afterward, cover the stump with a tarp to retain moisture and block sunlight, then place mulch on top to secure it in place.

Stump removal often includes a good portion of the roots, but not always. It ultimately depends on the method of removal. If you’re paying for chemical rotting or stump burning, then the roots will generally not be included. If you opt to pay more for manual removal or stump grinding, your stump removal professional will usually remove or grind down the larger roots. Root removal is important if you plan on placing landscaping features over the area in the future, as roots will gradually rot and collapse, leaving unlevel land behind.

Although many tree roots will continue to grow after the tree has been cut, there are a handful of exceptions to this rule. While species like elms, ficus, and willows have roots that will regrow with a vengeance, pine, oak, and maple roots will die when they’re cut down. New sprouts on old trunks, stumps, or exposed roots are a sign that the root system is still hard at work.

Leaving stumps in place comes with a lot of drawbacks. Along with being unsightly, tree stumps left in the ground can attract pests, rot away in your yard, encourage weed growth, and harm other plants and trees sharing your lawn. In extreme cases, tree stumps and their roots can damage the structure of your home or reduce your property value. 

While it’s tempting to just leave them be, the longer you wait, the more you might regret it.
