"I had a complete new roof installed by Planet Roof. This company was outstanding in every way. After they removed the existing shingles, they found more damage than expected, but Planet Roof took this in stride and picked up the additional materials needed to make the repairs. The end result was a beautiful new roof installed, same day. The roofers were skilled and their workmanship shows. The crew was very friendly. My metal shed had its roof ripped off by high winds and this crew saw that and put that roof back on for me as well. After they were all done, they cleaned up everything and after they left, there was no trace of them even being here at my home. If you need a new roof or repair, I would heartily recommend obtaining a quote from Planet Roof. I am very pleased with the work they did on my home."

"Project was to replace the roof on a rental property. Property is a townhouse, with a shared roof (many contractors won't work on shared roofs) Drew is wonderful to work with. Came to the property promptly to take a look, gave an estimate and suggestions for materials and a larger diameter gutter (to accommodate run-off from neighboring property). The estimate costs were very reasonable, and any potential extra costs clearly explained (i.e. two replacement sheets of wood were included in the estimate. If needed, extra wood charge per sheet). No deposits were required with the signed contract, no payments until the work was completed and I was satisfied. As soon as there was a break in the weather, Drew had the materials delivered and got the job done in less than a day. He sent pictures of the area that had been leaking, and replaced wood. The completed work is seamless and matches the other side almost perfectly. Cleanup was complete, and when we met to go over the work and finalize payment, Drew double checked for any debris potentially missed (didn't find anything!) His professional approach to service and project completion was very much appreciated, and I have already given him a referral for another roof replacement for a close friend. I did not know Drew prior to hiring him, and I called him based on his positive reviews here on Angie's List. Definitely recommend him and will use him for future projects!"

Siding questions, answered by experts

The average cost to install stucco siding on a home is around $5,700, with most homeowners paying between $2,200 and $9,100. However, the total cost can range from $750 to as high as $22,750 depending on several factors. On average, you can expect to pay between $7 and $9 per square foot. Key cost factors include the size and complexity of your home, the desired color and texture, labor and material costs in your area, and whether you have a multi-story home. Specific applications have different costs, such as adding stucco over brick ($7 per square foot) or over wood siding ($8.50 per square foot). To save money, you can consider removing the old siding yourself or scheduling the installation during the off-season.

Wood siding requires that air can circulate behind it and that water can drain away if necessary. Your home needs a water-restrictive barrier underneath furring strips to achieve the air and water gap.

If you buy new cedar, the process of cutting it usually roughs up the surface enough that it doesn’t require sanding. However, if you buy older cedar or you’re repurposing it from another application, it’s a good idea to sand it. This helps the stain settle into the grain, and results in a more uniform appearance.

Yes, vinyl siding can be installed over existing materials in some cases, assuming the underlying structure is sound and the installation will not cause moisture issues.

Typically 1-2 days, depending on damage extent and panel availability.
