"Paid the brick and lime company $4600 for a chimney rebuild from below roof line. Company damaged shingles and did terrible job flashing chimney into existing roof. I was quoted $2000 for a reputable contractor to remediate the damages and get the roof sealed properly. John has been unresponsive to several direct complaints and messages. Water is currently able to enter my home through the roof because of their actions. It was not like this before they worked on my home. An former employee of the company has shared my concerns and complaints. I am planning to file a civil dispute with my local Magistrate's office."

"We scheduled to have our retaining wall done back in April. Kelly, the owner came out to give us a quote and we scheduled it. He said he had some other Jobs to do before ours but he would fit us in during the month of August and we should reach out to him around the end of July to get a more firm date line of when he would break ground to fix our falling retaining wall. I reached out at the end of July as we discussed and he said due to the rain he didn’t know when he would get to us but it would definitely be in the month of August. I told him that we were selling our house and as long as I could have a firm week that he begin work- that would be enough information to list our home for the new buyers. He gave me the runaround and said due to the rain he would still not be able to make it out and wouldn’t know when he would be able to make it out. I gave him another week and checked the weather, it rained one day but the ground was solid and dry for over a week and still we heard nothing from him. We reached out again in the middle of August, the 14th, And I asked him if he knew which week he might be able to start work, and he tells me I should sell the house as is. Bet your britches I will attach a screenshot of his response. So unprofessional, he wasted my time for months and because I had him scheduled of course I did not schedule another company to do the work I needed done! He was rude and short and uninformative. I tried to be nice and civil, even extra friendly to let him know I was flexible and I asked him if he knew which week he might be able to start work, and he tells me I should sell the house as is. Bet your britches I will attach a screenshot of his response if I could!! So unprofessional, he wasted my time for months and because I had him scheduled of course I did not schedule another company to do the work I needed done! He was rude and short and uninformative. I tried to be nice and civil, even extra friendly to let him know I was flexible But still he was evasive and gave us no answers. A complete waste of our time money and it is now costing us big as we try to sell this house. I would never recommend him or his business and I’m beyond upset- if I could negative star him I would!"

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

In most cases, no, roofers won’t need to come inside. Some reasons roofers may need to come inside are to assess ventilation. inspect roof leaks, or check for any structural concerns.

The amount of hail damage that warrants a roof replacement depends on the size of the hail. In many cases, a roof replacement is needed if your roof gets hail that is 1 inch or larger in diameter. You may also need to replace a roof due to hail damage if you notice several dents in the shingles or there are seven to 10 hail impact marks within a 10x10 foot area on your roof.

The installation may have been done correctly. However, improperly installed gutter guards can easily damage your shingles. Also, cheap gutter guards rarely come with installation fixtures. In the worst cases, they simply ask you to nail the guards in, which would sabotage your roof’s water resistance and thus void the warranty. To be sure, always check with your home warranty provider before making any modifications.

You can damage your shingles if you use the wrong type of paint on them. You should always use acrylic latex paint specifically formulated for shingles. Other types of paint may trap moisture, which can cause bigger problems like rot and mildew. Considering that roof replacement costs $9,100 on average, it’s definitely best to avoid making this mistake.

Besides using the right paint, remember that painting your shingles will require increased maintenance.

It’s the reverse of home de-winterization. To winterize, you purge your plumbing system (including your water heater and all piping) of water. Some experts also recommend filling fixtures with an antifreeze solution. Other tasks involve winterizing sprinklers, sealing foundation vents, check weatherproofing around doors and windows, and more.
