Rick is as dishonest as they come. After faulty installation, Rick refused to meet with me at his showroom in Camp Hill and called local PD to ask us to leave. Met with Rick and his lawyer to have properly installed pipe work. Rick did send his techs to install new chimney and stove pipe (with proper length so the 2 pipes would actually connect) after this meeting however, he continues to blame the owner rather than accept accountability. Never hire again!
Response from AES Hearthplace Stove Shop

"I am sorry [Member Name Removed] that you still have the feeling that you need to put down AES after our technicians and I have rectified your concerns. There are 2 opinions to this situation. How [Member Name Removed] acted over the phone and in my showroom was not respectful and was disruptive and forced me, Rick Soccio, to involve the local PD and my attorney for assistance and intervention to resolve your concerns. AES did changeout a few components to the chimney and connector pipe that after further review did show adequate overlap and connection. Also after review, [Member Name Removed] was operating the stove without the catalyst, an essential/ required part in the stove, and over-firing the stove through improper dampering. I am sorry [Member Name Removed] that your experience with me and AES was less than exceptional. Per your request, AES will not perform any additional services for you, and you will have a different company perform maintenances on your chimney and stove. I truly wish you the best experiences from this point forward."

Fireplace is a new focal point of our home, love this. Very pleased with the AES and the masonry contractor they hired. Prices were right in line with other fireplace stores but AES provided a superior product.
Response from AES Hearthplace Stove Shop

"I, Rick Soccio, owner of AES Hearth & Patio, am so glad that you were pleased with the Gas Fireplace and Eldorado stonework job. As the owner, I am very grateful for the skills that are provided by our staff and sub contractors. I am also thankful for the opportunity to bring customer's dreams to life. I am so glad it is the main focal point in your home. Please feel free to send us another picture to include in our album now that it is probably fully decorated."

We have used AES on and off for a few years to clean our chimney from our wood burning stove not only at our home but also at a rental unit we own. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this service after what we experienced this past year. AES cleaned the chimney at our rental unit In June of 2017 and when the tenants went to use the wood stove in November 2017 the house filled up with smoke. Upon further investigation it became apparent that the chimney was never cleaned properly and a large amount of creosote that was pushed down the liner with the "cleaning" was clogging the stove. AES cashed the check but did not provide the service (see photos below that were taken after the cleaning was performed). Upon a call from both our tenants and us they were able to come out a few days later to rectify the problem. While I recognize that they did rectify the issue "at no charge to us" this represents a huge trust issue for us and whether previous cleanings have been performed in a satisfactory manner. Cleaning the chimney on at least an annual basis is paramount to safe operation of a wood burning stove and we will simply not compromise our family's safety with shoddy workmanship or failed delivery of services hence the one star rating. We will be looking elsewhere for chimney cleaning services in the future.

"[Member Name Removed], I am very sorry that this was your experience with AES. As the owner of AES, I am/ was upset with the quality of work that you received. My lead sweep stated that he performed the sweeping from the top of the chimney and had his helper working in the house at the wood insert. He states that he must not have checked the top of the insert before leaving and thinking that his helper completed the inside work. That did not happen, but I assure you that this matter was discussed with him. He is a very respectful and trained technician, felt bad, and will certainly take better responsibility in the future. Thank you for allowing us to rectify the situation, and I understand your concern with our company and workmanship. If you would choose to use AES in the future, I would give you your next sweep at no charge. I want to earn your trust back, but again appreciate your concern. Rick Soccio/ Owner at AES Hearth & Patio"

Once the technician arrived everything went well. It was a very simple call as I just needed to get some operational support for a non-functioning fireplace in a newly purchased condo. The technician had no difficulty locating the problem, fixing it and explaining operational issues. The only reason my rating isn't higher is that I had to call a few times to get a service call scheduled. Then, once scheduled, the appointment was a 'no show' and it turns out that the receptionist had made a mistake with the phone number. When i followed-up the error was corrected and they were accommodating in scheduling a new appointment. The technician was running late for the new appointment and finally arrived quite a bit late.

We have a court experience with them, we have to take them to court for them to finish their work, the quality of their work is questionable, very poor quality. You can get them to finish their work and the work was badly done.
Response from AES Hearthplace Stove Shop

"I believe their negative response is toward [Member Name Removed]'s original contractor. All AES had done was install a cap onto the top of the chimney. Our total invoice with [Member Name Removed] was $260. We were not part of any court issues. Please remove this review as it does not pertain to AES Hearth & Patio. Rick Soccio/ Owner of AES"

They recommended a consultant to inspect our fireplace. We were VERY happy with him. They also added an extra couple of feet to our chimney. The only "B" rating was for responsiveness. It took them a liitle while longer than we thought was appropriate to return calls. In all fairness, though, this IS the busy season for fireplace shops.

They did a really great job. However, their subcontractor messed up the stone on the fireplace.

This is the 2nd time I've left a review...seems they didn't like the honesty of the 1st one and had it deleted...but that's fine I can just keep posting.
Things started out fine. They came to the house for an estimate and to look at the chimney. Their price was higher than other estimates but they were the ones who could start work on it the soonest, so we went with them as winter was just around the corner. The initial person to come to the home was polite and professional. The techs that came to the house to install the new liner seemed helpful and professional enough, I never had a problem with anyone that came to the house. The problems started later.
When the techs installed the new chimney liner they knocked an entirely too large of a hole into the chimney itself and put a hole through into the garage floor. We were told that they'd have their contracted mason get in touch with us to repair the damages.
Days passed and we never heard anything. We started calling AES who said they'd take care of it. More days went by and still no call from the mason. Days turned into weeks and still no mason. So we posted a negative review on this website because it is entirely our belief that if you are a business, whom you contract with directly reflects upon you. It is my belief that if AES was serious about their reputation they would have really looked into the matter of what was going on and why no mason had been in touch with us. In the end it turned out the mason was never dialing the correct number, but AES did NOTHING to speed the process along and did nothing to compensate us for waiting an entire month to have a functional chimney. We paid full price for everything. And they stopped returning our calls about midway into our complaining about wanting the job done.
They complained to us personally about our review and to the staff at Angieslist and went so far as so say someone else left the review. Not the case at all, both myself and my significant other use this same account and we were both really put off by AES and the way they treated us and conducted business. We will not be using them in the future and we did not buy our wood stove or have it installed by them. After all of this we will continue to use someone else.

They did a great job. They didn't take very long with installation and cleaned up after themselves. They showed me how to use the stove and how to clean it. They were very professional and nice.

AES is local, so I called them to sweep my chimney and wood stove pipe. They were on time and did a good job for a reasonable price. During the visit, we were told that there needed to be a door on what had previously simply been a hole in the base of the chimney. We agreed to the work and were told that the door was ordered. There was apparently some wort of mix-up in the ordering which cost us a couple of weeks, but when the door arrived, we were called and an apppointment was made for install. It all went well.
