Customers say: Quality work

"Andy Stockholm, owner, was prompt in returning my call and scheduling his visit to give me an estimate for replacing the floor of my front porch. He was able to schedule the work sooner than originally expected. Despite problems obtaining materials, he arrived when promised and completed the job ahead of schedule. Mr. Stockholm was so professional and explained what he was doing thoroughly. This was the second job for which I had hired Mr. Stockholm. The first was the installation of new hand rails on the same porch. He really knows what he is doing. I highly recommend him to others and will definitely hire him again myself. I can see all the other reviews are five-star as well! He deserves all the stars!"

"Legacy the handy man, he's a 5 stars hand down with excellent customer service. I would highly recommend him for any home remodeling project big or small. He is professional, trustworthy and highly skilled at his craft. He really take his work seriously and it showed in all the details. They installed a tray ceiling in dining room and did custom trim, shadow boxes, chair rails and crown molding all over our home and it looks beautiful. They also painted, installed new high hat lights everywhere, installed 2 new large chandeliers and hung large art work very high in our 2 story family room. They really take pride in their work, as they should! I would definitely recommend Legacy the handy man."

"We met Darrin Simpson of LMR Improvements via a search on Home Advisor. It took 14 months of negotiating with the insurance company, because of the extent of the damage, before we were ready to proceed. During that period, we had several contractors here to survey the damage and give us estimates. Darrin Simpson was head and shoulders above all of them. He and his crew performed an expert work on schedule, within budget and at a fair price. Above all, Darrin has been most cooperative and friendly, and resolved problems promptly and to mutual satisfaction, such as when we had unexpected rain during this roofing project. We can recommend LMR Improvements without any reservation and will used them again when a need arises."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

If a light switch is off, it’s very unlikely to cause a fire. For a fire to start, the switch has to be on, activating an electrical current, and the wiring must be faulty. However, the malfunctioning light switch could cause an intermittent current to move across the electrical wire. This issue could become a fire hazard with another device connected to the wire. You should replace the bad light switch as soon as you notice it or call an electrician.

To stop a smoke alarm from chirping, you must first determine what the device is alerting you to. If your battery is out or has been removed, simply change the battery and the chirping should stop. If it does not, try resetting the alarm, checking the breaker, or calling a professional to take a look.

Recessed lights, as with any kind of light, can be a fire hazard if not installed correctly. Because of this, it’s best to have a professional complete the installation for you. Properly installed lights should not pose a threat and often have heat sensors installed in them that turn the light off if the temperature gets too high.

Having a pellet stove can indeed raise your insurance rates since they're a relatively common cause of fires in the home. However, rate increases vary by insurance provider so you should reach out to yours to determine exactly how much your rates might increase with a new pellet stove install.

First, it is crucial to check your local guidelines or building codes. You should typically have one smoke detector for every floor, bedroom, and kitchen. Another rule of thumb is to install one smoke detector for every 500 feet in a home. Reviewing manufacturing recommendations, especially for interconnected devices, is also a good idea to ensure proper connection and monitoring.
