"Bill and his crew at Tyson Fence are incredible to work with. I have used them multiple times at my home as well as on many of my own job sites. They are reliable, efficient, and always keep the job site clean during installation. 100% recommend giving them a call for all or your fence repair/installation needs! You will not be disappointed."

"Really great team! Unlike a lot of companies who would have wanted to replace the whole roof, they were honest and though. They were able to identify the problem and gave me the best options to minimize the total cost but ensure the problem was fixed. I will definitely contact them first with any future roofing needs."

"Kurt of Handyman Matters did the entire job.  Extremely pleasant and professional, he even cleaned up well after he was done.  I've used this Handyman Matters before to paint our shed and they do an excellent job and are always on time!  They stick to their estimate.  I know of no other contractor that 1) arrives on time without a fuss 2) keeps you in the loop, 3) is flexible working with your schedule (we had to find and order vintage tile on Ebay to match), and 4) does such a quality job.  We will be using them for another tile job in the near future.

Fencing questions, answered by experts

The cheapest farm fences are typically wire fences, which cost less to install than traditional lumber fences. Barbed wire is one of the most inexpensive options due to its simple materials, making it a good choice for low budgets. It is suitable for confining docile animals in large spaces, as it provides a visual barrier and a mild deterrent. Other options like hog wire and woven wire fences are also cost-effective because they require less lumber than a full wooden fence. These types of wire fences are strong, long-lasting, and relatively easy to repair, though they are often considered less aesthetically pleasing than wood.

Corrugated metal is a strong, long-lasting material. A corrugated metal fence will typically last several decades, and the metal panels themselves may last for 40 to 60 years. The main thing you should be concerned about is the fence posts. Wood fence posts will last about five years if you purchase them untreated or about 15 years if you treat them after installation. Keep an eye on your posts and look out for insect damage and rot.

When deciding to replace or repair your existing fence, consider the 20% rule that fence builders reference. This rule states that if more than 20% of your fence needs repair, you should skip the repair and replace it. Additionally, if your fence is nearing the end of its life, it's often best to replace it.

Repairing the fence is a good option when you have minimal damage or damage from a specific event versus wear and tear. Your fence repair professional can assess the damage and compare the repair price with the cost of a new fence.

It’s usually cheaper to buy pre-made fence panels than to build your own. This surprises many people since DIY tasks so often save money. However, large stores don’t have to pay the same amount per board of wood that homeowners do, allowing them to sell pre-made panels at a more cost-effective rate. Pre-made panels also save a great deal of time, energy, and guesswork. The drawback is that they are harder to customize to the shape and slope of your yard.

The depth of your post hole depends on your post length. If you decide on a two-rail fence, the posts are likely 6 feet long. You want your hole to be at least 1/3 of the post length. In this case, your post hole should be two feet deep.

If you opt for a three-rail fence, the posts will typically be 7 feet long, meaning your post hole should be 28 inches deep.
