Keystone Remodeling and Restoration, we are local, family-owned, and we provide top-notch, quality work at a fair price. We pride ourselves on exceptional customer service; before, during, and after your project is complete.

"While the quality of their work was very good, someone needs to screen the contractors for fair business practices. My "pro" forgot to mention that when I paid my bill with my debit card, there was a 3.75% surcharge for the "convenience." Cost me over $50 and when I brought it up all they had to say was "whoops, sorry." Also, I was being charged by the hour. I ended up paying 2 guys at $75/hour to stop by and pick up a few things at the store! $150 for picking up a few supplies?! Had I known, I would have gone and bought the stuff myself!"

Cabinet Refacing and Refinishing questions, answered by experts

If you don’t want to sand your bathroom cabinets before painting, it’s possible to make it work. However, sanding the cabinets for a long-lasting paint job is always best. Make sure your cabinets are in good shape, choose high-quality paint, and use a deglosser. The deglosser strips the paint, varnish, or stain from the cabinets to give you a clean slate to work from.

A kitchen remodel can be a major undertaking, depending on how much you change. If you’re changing the kitchen layout, you might be tempted to scrap everything and start fresh, but there are a few different ways to save money throughout the process.

  • Keep your existing cabinets and reface or repaint them

  • Consider choosing budget appliances and fixtures

  • DIY when possible, such as painting walls yourself

  • Choose prefabricated cabinets instead of custom cabinetry

  • Choose affordable flooring options where possible

It’s usually worth your investment to refinish old or fading cabinets. Refinishing your cabinets can be an excellent and budget-friendly way to makeover your kitchen. You have a wide range of paint and stain colors to choose from, so you can achieve whatever look you desire without having to replace your existing cabinets. Plus, it's one of the home renovation projects that can help increase the value of your home.

If you don't sand your cabinets, the new paint or stain won’t adhere properly, impacting the final finish and leading to peeling, chipping, or a sloppy result that won't stand the test of time. Sanding removes the old finish, smooths imperfections, and gives the new coat something to grip. Without it, you will waste your time, money, and effort.

The difference between resurfacing and refinishing is that refinishing only works on solid surfaces that are in good condition, whereas resurfacing will restore a cracked or worn surface to its original, blemish-free state. Refinishing will leave you with a smooth and glossy surface you can’t get from resurfacing alone. If that’s the look you’re going for, contact a local concrete finishing contractor to achieve it.
