John does exceptional work, and is very knowledgeable, punctual, and fair. His work is of the highest quality - so much so that we asked him to come back and remodel a second bathroom. Both jobs turned out even better than expected. One of the things we liked most was that John LISTENED to what you wanted and figured out a way to get that done. We will call John to do any of our future needs.

John was a fantastic contractor. He was punctual, responsive and adaptive. His work was accurate and high quality. John made sure to always clean up after he was done. For our job, his bid was extremely reasonable and lower than other contractors. The best part was that he completed our projector UNDER the original quoted price. We will definitely be using John for any major construction and renovation needs and will highly recommend him to family and friends.

This project exceeded our expectations! John always returned calls right away, showed up when he said exactly when he said he would, and completed the project without any gaps or delays. The price was fair and more reasonable that we have found with others bidding on our home repairs. He was meticulous with details, which isn't always easy to find when hiring a contractor. He didn't mind giving us options and was flexible about the choices we made with the project. (Project details: sand away varnish on 37 cabinets plus fridge panels, apply two coats of primer, one or two coats of topcoat for an excellent finish. Electrical repair for two lights. Trim replacement throughout kitchen. Carpentry repair on pull-out bin area mechanism. Replacement of all kitchen hardware including hinges throughout.) We are looking forward to our next project with John!

Excellent job! John enclosed the roof of my front porch with soffit, installed new fascia, gutters, down spouting and new porch lighting. The job required scaffolding, modifying the framing and fabricating much of the fascia as the areas to be covered were odd sizes. The entire job, including setting up, removal, and disposal of materials took three days. John is my go-to guy for just about anything!

Excellent job!! I supplied the pine planking, John obtained all the other materials. In addition to installing the walls, he tore out the old ceiling, repaired electric supply line and installed the drywall ceiling. Outside, he installed new fascia and gutters/downspouts. John is a true professional!

Fantastic. If I could give John an A+, I would. He really knows what he is doing, and all the installs and repairs went great. He really went the extra mile to make sure I understood all of the work he was doing and why. John made sure I was happy with every aspect.

A cabin's floor support beam had collapsed into the crawl space. John jacked up the floor, replaced the beam with two 2x10's, and installed crawl space vents and an electric automatic crawl space ventilation unit. The workmanship is of the highest quality and the combination of experience, knowledge and the intelligence to use both, as well as being willing to help the customer in a less than ideal situation (crawl space) cannot be matched. John is highly professional with a strong work ethic and we will definitely contract with him in the future.

Our bathroom remodel was a little more than an average bath remodel. It included adding a wall, opening a doorway, electrical repairs, and structural repairs.  We were lucky to call John in the dead of winter, so he was able to estimate our job the next day.  The estimated amount was almost exactly the amount it ended up being.
John promptly arrived every day at 8am.  This time is nice for us, because it gives you a chance to get the kids off and get settled.
John charges by time and material, which we also like.  Other contractors try to give you a fixed cost, so they over-estimate to cover unexpected things, or they hit you with change orders for every small detail.  John doesn't do this.  As he's working, he tells you which ways will be faster (aka cheaper) and which ways will be better.   You decide what you want.  It was also nice that he doesn't mark-up materials.  In fact, he takes pride in re-using things that others would needlessly toss in the dumpster.
Our bath was 3 x 6 subway tiles on the walls and tub area with a marble mosaic on the floor.  We also used in-floor heating under the tile.  John's tile work was very meticulous.  He took the time to ensure layout was the best compromise possible and would try to steer us away from decisions that could cause problems with layout.  We also noticed that John's drywall skills are fantastic.  He takes the time to get perfect drywall.  When the paint goes on the surface looks perfect.
Everyone makes mistakes and every renovation has many unexpected issue.  John made very few, but when he did, he immediately showed you what happened and corrected it, or gave you choices to see the best way to work around the issue.   To us, trustworthiness is the most important skill a contractor can have, and John earned this on this project.
Writing this good review is bittersweet.  We plan to use John for many projects in the future, but more A++ reviews make it harder to get on his schedule.

John did a great job.  He contacted us immediately when we called for an estimate.  He was on time everyday and made sure everything was done to our satisfaction.  We have already made plans to have him do several other projects for us.

It went extremely well. John was professional, and has a vast array of skills and knowledge. He performs all jobs thoroughly, he never skips corners or takes shortcuts. He is open for discussion or change in plans (by owner) as the job progresses. He leaves the job site each night in neat condition. He suggests ideas that might enhance or improve the project, but always lets the owner make the decision, and I liked this. I was very satisfied with his work. I have asked him to do other jobs for me since this one was completed. He provides billing statements at weeks end that I thought were fair and accurate (I kept my own ledger to double check early in the project). I trust his skills and his work ethic, and I would be comfortable with him doing any project on our home. He is our new and quot;go to guyand quot;, and I will consult with him on future projects. We have agreed to two additional projects this year. He presents professionally, from his truck to his attire, and I heard no curse words from him during our weeks together.
I was extremely pleased with the quality of the work. It is obvious he has pride in what he does, and has a very high standard that he holds himself to (rare these days). I will hire him again, and John and I are already discussing projects I want him to do in 2015.
I give him the highest of ratings.
Response from John Morgan Contracting

"Thank you for your review. I must say though, my $30 per hour rate is very competitive ALL others in our area and I get more done in one hour than most, at a higher level of quality. I think that your own words reinforce that. John"

All of these tasks were accomplished in an extremely professional manner. His work more than exceeded my expectations. I cannot think of any construction related task that John could not accomplish in an exemplarily manner. He does high quality work at a very reasonable price.

Response from John Morgan Contracting

"Thank you for the great review, and most of all, thank you for your trust in me to perform a wide array of tasks on your home(s). Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help your old home sell. I am looking forward to helping you with the tasks we discussed at the new house, as soon as you are ready. John"

I have hired John Morgan Contracting several times, and John has completed many, many projects at my home. He can fix or build or install anything.
John is creative, hard working, an excellent problem solver and plays close attention to detail.
He very respectful of your home and at all times keeps the project area organized and tidy.

Because of the high quality of his work, John is in demand so you might have to wait a bit for your project to fit into his schedule. It is well worth the wait, though, because you can be assured that any job completed by John will be done right and to your satisfaction.
I highly recommend, John Morgan Contracting and plan to hire him for future projects at my home. He truly is the best!

I found him on Angie's List. He was very good. I saw photos of his work and his work was really nice. He did the kitchen near my house. He returned phone calls and he was very nice in-person. I have no complaints. From the photos I have seen his other work would have also deserved an and ldquo;Aand rdquo; too. I intend to use him again in the future. It was $50 to install the light fixtures.
Response from John Morgan Contracting

"Thank you for your review. I know that I only changed a light fixture for you, but hope that I get the opportunity to help you with other projects that we had talked about. Please feel free to call me any time."

I met with John Morgan and told him that I needed my utility shed doors repaired and a doggie door put in the side of my home. He took pictures of the shed doors, looked at the doggie door I needed installed, discussed how I wanted the projects done, and established an approximate date when the work would be accomplished. When John started the work, he discovered more damage to the doors than was directly observable and the doors had to be reconstructed. John took this change in stride and did a perfect job with the shed doors. Likewise, the doggie door was installed with a great deal of care and it looks like a small window from both inside and outside our home. These two projects were accomplished with a very high degree of professionalism and more than met my expectations.
Response from John Morgan Contracting

"Thank you for your kind review sir, it was great working for you, as well as helping your dogs with access to the back yard. I hope to help you with all your home repair or remodeling projects, and want to assure you that the quality of my work will always be the best available. John"

This kitchen renovation was a continuation of John's earlier renovation of our bathrooms completed last spring (see earlier comments). Everything that John did in the kitchen was as I had come to expect it would be--without question, the best quality I have seen. The house proved more problematic in the kitchen in that initial efforts to do a simple remodel ended up requiring a complete gut job, with walls and subfloors requiring replacement. John took it in stride. and the house is more solid as a result. Like he did in the bathrooms, he installed 600 square feet of unglazed tile in a running bond pattern without using tile spacers; the subway tile backsplash was installed equally as well. His best talents, however, were perhaps evident in the refinishing of the cabinets (which ended up looking like fine furniture). I would give him an A+ for this. They originally looked as if they were made of cherry (and in BAD need of refinishing) but were actually walnut---Quite a nice surprise. Trimming the doorway, door and window trim and baseboards with the repurposed wormy chestnut from the paneling came in a close second. I have renovated 3 kitchens in my lifetime; this is undoubtedly my favorite.

John's attitude was very good and his offer to undertake work I had not requested impressed me. I knew this work needed done also and it pleased me for him to offer to include it in his bid,as he said it would not take long to accomplish it.

My husband and I recently moved to our retirement home in Ligonier. It was built in 1965 and needed extensive updates on the baths, kitchen, and morning room. Because we are near retirement our son, who is an architect at a major firm in the area, selected and interviewed several individuals on Angie's List. He chose John Morgan because he appeared to be the most knowledgeable and, by being expert in multiple areas, he would be able to keep costs down and hasten time to completion by not relying on subcontractors. We have been involved in the restoration of 2 historic homes in the past so we are familiar with construction. I also have unique ideas on decorating so our jobs are never simple. The renovations of our present home will reflect the rustic nature of the mountain that it is built upon. John began in mid-february, beginning with the master bath, has just completed the guest bath, and will begin the kitchen renovations this week (He is roughly 1 week behind his original schedule because of unanticipated setbacks caused by previous sloppy construction . Vanities and fixtures were purchased from Restoration Hardware; all tile for the flooring and showers is natural stone and varies from mosaic to subway. The plumbing had to be rerouted and new lighting installed for the baths. Walls were torn down and rebuilt. Showers have frameless glass and there is a free-standing soaker tub in the guest bath. My kitchen is graced with walnut cabinetry that is original to the house so they will be refinished. Granite countertops will be installed and unglazed tile will be used for the flooring; the fireplace in the morning room will be refurbished with a reclaimed wood mantle; wooden beams will be used as molding around the opening to the morning room. The exterior doors will be replaced. Let me begin my critique of John's work by telling you i am very picky; the previous renovations i had done had made me very sour on contractors in general. John has changed my opinion of the entire industry! His innate intelligence (great for trouble-shooting), work ethic, integrity, and attention to detail are very rare in any profession. His tile work has set a new standard for me. He has had sound solutions (our son came up with the same solutions without knowing what John's suggestions were) to the inevitable issues that arose when he opened a wall. He is patient and works long days when he is behind what he has envisioned his schedule should be. He enjoys his work and i don't think i could force him to do it haphazardly. His bookkeeping his first-rate, with every dollar he has charged justified by receipts and an hourly wage log. He has kept to his original bid with one exception when i messed him up by ruining a shower liner he had laid the day before. My son now wants him to redo his bathrooms and kitchen and we have plans to hardscape the exterior of our house next Spring. I have no complaints other than he will soon be in such high demand that will have trouble getting him back for future jobs.
