"The first time we used Bryan's service was for the rotting exterior window trim. The job was done to our satisfaction. The men were courteous and neat. The second time was to replace a toilet. Again, the men were courteous and neat. Based on these two experiences with Bryan's Handyman service we would recommend this business. We will be calling him again as needed."

"I recently hired BMR Belmax Remodeling for a bathroom remodel in my home in Yardley, aiming to make it better for my elderly parents. They removed the old bathtub and installed a new walk-in shower, toilet, and vanity, and also updated the tiles, shower door, mirror, light, and exhaust fan. The whole bathroom renovation was impressively done in just 8 days.I am really happy with the new bathroom and plan to hire BMR Belmax Remodeling again in the future."

"Fantastic! Highly recommend this company. The employees were friendly and easy to deal with. The work was done on time and they did a great job. Pricing was fair and the office manager was able to work around our difficult schedule. In the future if we decide to remodel our kitchen or bathroom we will definitely be utilizing this company."

"From the start of our journey with Rome Bath to the end results was amazing! Last year we went to the showroom and was assisted by Karen. She explained to us about the different products and how they differed from other companies products. She was so knowledgeable and helpful! Then this year we decided to have a walk-in shower installed in our upstairs bathroom. Joe came to our house and went over everything with us. He was so helpful and was not pushy like other sales people normally are. We greatly appreciated that. He was also so helpful with helping us decide what would be best for us! Then came time for the installation. Dan and Justin came. They did an amazing job. They were very polite and respectful. They made sure to keep our home clean by placing down protective covering on our carpets and stairs. They were very careful bringing all of their tools, supplies, and taking everything back out. They transformed our 1940's bathtub into a beautiful looking walk-in shower. It looks amazing! We want to thank everyone of them for the wonderful and fantastic job that they all did to assist us through this journey! We would most definitely recommend Rome Bath to everyone!! Thank you again!!!!"

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

There are several ways to save money on a bathroom remodel through proper planning and savvy design strategies. To reduce costs, consider the following:

  • Purchase your own materials: Buy your own bathroom fixtures, hardware, and other materials to avoid contractor upcharges and delivery fees.

  • Shop smart for big-ticket items: Save on pricey items like tiles and tubs by shopping sales and at discount stores.

  • Avoid major layout changes: Keep plumbing in its current location. Opt to replace fixtures rather than moving them to avoid significant renovation work.

  • Focus on high-impact, low-cost updates: Make affordable but impactful smaller changes, such as upgrading hardware, installing new lighting, and adding stylish but economical accessories.

  • DIY where possible: Handle easier parts of the remodel yourself, like painting or installing light fixtures, to save on labor costs.

  • Time your remodel strategically: Consider remodeling in the spring, which tends to be a lower-demand time of year and may result in lower costs.

Yes, $5,000 is a healthy budget for a DIY bathroom renovation. It can go a long way in making the space more accessible and stylishly spa-like. Providing you stick to modest materials and don’t make any major plumbing or structural changes, you can upgrade fixtures, retile, and add some stylish bathroom accessories and savvy storage solutions to maximize the space.

Start by gutting the old fixtures and features that need to be removed, such as the tile, vanity, and flooring. You may benefit by removing the toilet, even if you intend to use the same one. Next, install the new shower or tub, followed by the flooring, and then the drywall, which you should then paint. After that, install your new cabinets, vanity, countertop, sink, and faucet, in that order. Replace your light fixture next. Lastly, reconnect the toilet.

When buying caulk, look for ones labeled for tub and tile. These have either acrylic latex or silicone compounds. This allows the caulk to stick to smooth surfaces and prevent mildew from forming.

In some cases, people are getting rid of bathtubs because of the floor space they gain after removal. Showers can make more efficient use of bathroom space. In some cases, people get rid of tubs for accessibility purposes. It can be difficult for some individuals to step into and out of a tub. For these people, a shower with no lip or step is safer and easier to use than a tub.
