"Solarshield Metal Roofing was very professional from the sales team to the contractors from start to finish. Everyone I spoke to was eager to help with any questions I asked and had an understanding whether it was their department or not. They were very respectful of my property and finished in a timely manner. Once the job was finished it was like they weren’t even there aside from a stunning new roof."

"JAM has done several projects for me. They installed Certainteed insulated Vinyl Siding and my home is warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Last summer they built the most amazing roof over my deck-itâ s another room and I use it every day weather permitting. This year they installed the flooring. It is beautiful and easy to care for. They even came back a few days later to see if I was still pleased. JAM does a wonderful job-no matter what the job may be."

"We dealt with Ray Fitzgerald. Ray listened to our concerns, examined the roof, identified the problem, offered a solution, and fixed the roof. He was courteous, professional, and helpful, and completed the work in a timely manner. I’d highly recommend him and his company."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

In most cases and locations, roofs with a single layer of asphalt roofing shingles won't require roof removal before installing a metal roof. However, underlayment may be necessary on roofs with moderate shingle damage. Heavily damaged roofs or ones with multiple shingle layers will most likely require removal before a metal roof can go on.

Torch down roofing is only one of the options available for your home. Depending on your type of roof, if it is a gable or hip roof, torch down roofing might not work for you due to the slope. Asphalt, metal, and clay shingles are just a few popular roofing options that may be more suitable.

You may become so frustrated with the look of moss on your roof that you contemplate whether to clean or replace your roof. Fortunately, you don’t have to go as far as replacing it. After cleaning the moss, you can use a chemical solution to keep it away. For further protection, trim branches that overhang the roof, as fallen seed pods and leaves on the roof allow moisture to collect, encouraging moss growth. Consider adding zinc-coated flashing to the roof, too. As rain washes across the zinc, it leaves zinc particles behind that inhibit moss growth.

You cannot replace granules that have been lost off shingles. The granule embedding process is part of shingle manufacturing, and once the bond holding the granules to the shingles has been lost, the granules are gone for good. Shingles with granule loss must be fully replaced to continue offering adequate protection.

The type of roof and roofing materials that are best for your mobile home depends primarily on its shape and slope. Rubber materials, such as EPDM and TPO, are best for flat, low-sloped, or bowed mobile home roofs. Asphalt shingles or metal roofing are best for mobile homes with sloped rooflines.
