I purchased my home about 3 years ago. It has 2 septic systems, one for each end of the house. I did not know the location of the systems, and wanted to locate the tanks in order to have them serviced and determine the condition of both systems. I was converting a 1/2 bath into a full bath, and needed plumbing roughed in. I needed to flip the location of the existing toilet and sink and add a shower. The existing bath is on a slab, and required cutting the concrete floor to rough in the plumbing, and slope the concrete floor in preparation for adding a shower drain. At the same time, I wanted to replace the existing water heater that supplied this and an adjacent bath with a new hot water unit. The existing 1/2 bath is 4' x 5' and stealing space from a closet the new bath is only 4' x 8', adding only the space for a 3' x 4' shower. I called to schedule an appointment, and discussed my needs with a plumbing supervisor who wanted to send a plumber who would be in the area stop by to look things over before scheduling the service call. In preparation for the call, I stripped the existing walls down to the studs to make the access to the existing plumbing easy. The first plumber showed up to look at the project as scheduled, and recommended scoping the drains with a camera to determine where the septic cleanouts were located, and to inspect the existing drain line in the 1/2 bath to quote the rough in for the new bath. I provided a set of dimensioned drawing of the existing bath, a detailed drawing of the new bath with measurements, all the fixture specification sheets to eliminate any guesswork as I had already purchased them. The supervisor called to discuss the project, and I sent a PDF of all the documentation to him directly per our conversation, and we scheduled an appointment to have the camera inspection and septic location preformed. The plumber who was to show up did not call until 1/2 day after he was to have shown up to reschedule. He showed up for the second appointment on time, and scoped the lines in the 1/2 bath, and located the septic cleanout for the septic system on that side of the house. In what seemed to me at the time to be about an hour. At that point, he told me he had another appointment scheduled, and would have to come back to locate the 2nd septic system, and would call me to schedule it. He didn't call back for several days, so I called him. He apologized. Said that he had broken the scope, that he'd told his boss someone else had broken it, and it needed to be repaired, and would call to reschedule as soon as it was repaired. Weeks later, I called the office thinking they had forgotten about me. They said the unit was out for repaire, and they would call to reschedule as soon as it was back. I also discussed the quote for the bathroom rough-in with the supervisor responsible for preparing the quote. He told me I should have it shortly. I received the quote a few days later. They never called back to finish the 1st job. I did receive a bill dated two months after the first service call for $427.13. The bill detail was for $307.13 was travel and "truck charge" and $100 for "sewer camera." The Budgetary Quote to rough in the plumbing and slope the concrete floor was $6,712.00. The quote did not include a water heater any or carpentry, but they included setting the fixtures, which couldn't be done without the electric, walls, or tile work. At no point did I receive a call saying they did not intend to provide a new hot water heater, and they never called back to finish the job of locating the other septic system. I had used them right after moving into the house, to re-route the lines in the laundry room, install a new water softener, run new water lines for laundry hookups, and install both a laundry tub and replace the old kitchen sink and lines. They'd preformed that work, which also involved cutting the concrete floor well. They were in and out in one day and I was very satisfied. But after this disappointment, I won't be using or recommending them again. Even moved the heavy appliances out to the back porch. Put up sheets to keep dust out of rest of the house. I felt sorry for the guys ,I had blown in insulation in ceiling what a mess. They cleaned up every day before they left .They hauled all the materials away. First of all we have an OLD house , nothing plumb or level. The guys did a fantastic job with the framework .Walls and ceiling . Mr. Taggart the electrician ( his office is with TUSSEY MOUNTAIN), came in and Kevin told him where we wanted stuff . He was VERY GOOD and caring . He even saw something a previous electrical contractor did wrong and fixed it right . Kevin did a fantastic job on the plumbing in the basement . He used ball valves for shutoffs which are better than the old style that leak . He fixed the drains which were put in sloppy previously . Everything drains better .I thought it looked real pretty compared to what we had before . Kevin takes pride in his work and it shows .Someone had put hundreds of nails and staples in the different floor coverings before . Kevin spent one day on his hands and knees pulling them out to put new underlayment down. The drywaller SAM NOBLE came in and out the drywall up . He's in his 60's and been doing it since he was a kid .. VERY GOOD . Lennie Nichols was the first and only contractor we considered for the job. We wanted a contractor in whom we had complete confidence as we elected to have this major work done while we were in Florida for 6 weeks. Lennie took pictures with his cellphone and sent them to us as work progressed. When a major problem arose, he explored many avenues to find a solution. Although he had never worked for us before, he had worked for two of our friends who recommended him highly. Lennie managed to have the bulk of the work on our kitchen done by the time we returned to Pennsylvania. We had a functional kitchen! He even replaced the Corian countertop which we could use temporarily until the new granite could be installed. He installed the faucet and garbage disposal. He was meticulous in his work habits, cleaning up carefully each day. The painting was neatly done. He installed the Congoleum Duraceramic floor and the subway tile backsplash with glass tile accent, taking great care to achieve a perfect job. He also found the appropriate undercabinet lighting. We would definitely recommend Lennie for the quality of his workmanship, his knowledge of construction and remodeling, and the professionalism he and his worker brought to the job. That was no problem for Atha Flooring. We got together with them a couple of months later, and he gave us the name of the supplier where we could go to pick out and order our tile. That was a terrific idea since we had thousands of patterns to choose from and a variety of prices. We ordered the tile, and paid for it. It was then delivered to Atha Flooring. The bathroom, closet room and laundry room were completed and we were very happy with the work. We were unable to complete the kitchen in 2011, and so Mr. Atha stored our tile for us until we were ready to do it. When we came back from Florida in the spring, we began our kitchen remodel, and when we were ready, Mr. Atha came and completed the kitchen tile installation. It is just beautiful, and we are so happy with it. I would recommend this company to anyone who is having flooring done. Operating in Erie, PA and northwest Pennsylvania since 2007, we are a residential remodeling contractor specializing in sunroom additions, kitchen and bath remodels, decks, awnings, basement waterproofing and basement finishing.
"We did the demo on our old two-tiered decking. Betterliving built a new upper deck from composite with aluminum railing. The lower deck was replaced with as 12X15 sunroom. The process from start to finish was a pleasure. All employees were friendly, knowledgeable, skilled, and prompt. Price was better than anticipated, so we went with a 4-season sunroom instead of a 3-season. The worksite was safe, clean and orderly, and the quality of the build was excellent. They worked through some miserable cold weather too. Deck – Betterliving’s construction quality was a major improvement to what we previously had. Their suggestion to use two colors on the railing worked out great too - spindles are a different color that the rest of the railing. Sunroom - also very solid construction. It is insulated well, and also helps even out the temps in the family room it is attached to. The gable style not only looks nice, but makes the sun room look bigger. They built a small landing off of the sunroom entryway too. It is important to note that they installed the flooring and contracted the electrical. Flooring and electrical work were included as part of our quote with them. Not all of our quotes from other businesses included flooring and electrical work, and would have been an additional cost. Having everything included in the quote also meant we had one project, not several projects. Deck/sunroom/landing materials – decking and landing materials were the same composite materials. The sunroom skirting was also the same composite. This ties everything together visually, and improves the overall look. Electrical work – Knorr Electric completed all the electrical in the sunroom (interior and exterior outlets, exterior floodlight, and hung a ceiling fan). They also replaced all of our outside lighting on the entire house while they were here, and moved a bathroom light inside. They were also friendly, knowledgeable, skilled, and prompt. And quality work from them too. We will definitely contact Betterliving and Knorr again for any additional work we want done. They are highly recommended! Note that Betterliving in the Erie, PA area is connected to DBC Remodeling and Construction (same employees). DBC came highly recommended to us from a friend."

The best time of year to remodel your home is late winter and early spring when fewer homeowners are thinking about projects and pros are more available.
