Although many tree roots will continue to grow after the tree has been cut, there are a handful of exceptions to this rule. While species like elms, ficus, and willows have roots that will regrow with a vengeance, pine, oak, and maple roots will die when they’re cut down. Most tree removals take 3-8 hours, requiring additional time for stump grinding or debris hauling.

Some fast-acting products can rot a tree stump in four to six weeks. Keep in mind, these products contain harsh chemicals that may prevent regrowth in the area.
