"My 6 year old sofas needed to be cleaned. While searching google I came across Eco Green Cleaning & Restoration. I read the reviews and decided to give them a call. After explaining what I needed and submitting pictures of my sofas I was able to get a quote right away. Mr. Elhussini was kind and courteous. He arrived on time and got to work cleaning right away. When he was done not only was my sofas nice and clean he left it smelling so good. As a matter of fact my whole house smelled wonderful. I would highly recommend Eco Green for your upholstery cleaning needs. I would not hesitate to call them again in the future should I need so."

"Alex did a very thorough job! He cleaned a yellow chair and brought it back to new. He took more time on steps and on request cleaned 3 more area rugs. He took before and after pictures so you could see the difference which was very reassuring! Well done ð"

"Initial contact was positive. First appointment missed, second appointment only 1 person came to clean whole house! She could not complete cleaning in required time frame. Agreed to return. So far, pleased with the quality of the cleaning. Repeated calls to set up and confirm final cleaning were not returned. Left oven with oven cleaner sprayed and not reported to owner. Owner turned oven on and nearly was overcome by oven cleaner residue. Paid up-front for service but only 2/3 of job was completed. Have not been able to contact to complain."

"I am extremely happy with Michael's work! He truly went above and beyond; I felt like I should have been paying more! We also have asthmatic members of the household, so I requested organic cleaning supplies and he had a great line of products available."

Drapery Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The best way to clean drapes or curtains depends on the fabric. Always check the care tag for instructions before attempting to wash them.

You can typically clean drapes yourself if they are made of durable materials like cotton, cotton blends, polyester, or burlap, which can often be machine-washed. However, some fabrics can be hand-washed.

For delicate materials such as linen, silk, velvet, lace, sateen, or wool, it is best to hire a professional drapery cleaner. These fabrics are often dry-clean only and can be damaged, shrink, or be destroyed by machine washing or using the wrong cleaning solutions.

If the care tag is missing, the drapes are old, thin, brittle, or have existing damage like pulls or tears, it's safest to have them professionally cleaned. A professional will use the correct methods and solutions for a safe, deep cleaning.

Insulating windows without plastic is usually the better method. Outside of simply replacing your windows, you could buy cellular shades, which trap air between the window and the home, add a window film that blocks UV rays and traps heat, or cover your windows with a low-emissivity coating called “low-E.”

The recommended frequency for professionally cleaning drapes varies. As a general guideline, aim for every four to five years. However, you should consider more frequent cleanings in specific circumstances. For homes with pets, heavy soiling, or residents with severe allergies, cleaning every two to three years—or even two to four times per year—is beneficial. Light-colored drapes may need cleaning every one to two years to maintain their appearance. Some also follow a biannual schedule, cleaning in the spring to remove winter dust and in the fall to remove summer pollen. In between professional services, lightly vacuum your drapes with a special attachment to remove surface debris, but avoid abrasive brushes on delicate fabrics like silk and linen.

Use a combination of blackout methods to truly black out your windows. If you want to eliminate all light from your room, try installing a very dark tinted film and then putting up blackout shades over the entire window. Reach out to a professional and request some custom-made shades for the best result.

Anything that might have been exposed to fumigation chemicals should be washed before use. Wipe down and sanitize surfaces like countertops and tables, and wash all utensils (or take care to store them in an airtight box beforehand), as well as anything else that could find its way into someone’s mouth, like kid or pet toys.
